Keep reading our guys who have taken BP against him talk about how much movement he has on his pitches and how accurate he is.

Holy cow I can't wait for the season to get here. I want to see what Yu can do against ML hitters in a real scenario.

Doubt anyone wants to mess with him right now, but seems like Maddox or Nolan one will get with Yu and see if they can get him to wind up with the ball still in his glove. Won't take long for batters to start looking at his hand at the back of his windup if he keeps dropping it into plain sight. After noticing this, I saw that ESPN MLB front page has a photo of Yu pitching, and it shows exactly what I'm talking about.

Can't see his whole hand, but this is the picture I'm talking about. Seems like a batter could just look down at his hand to see how he is holding the ball.

I believe that picture is a bad example of what you are referring to. In the particular point shown...the ball is already removed from the glove for all pitchers. (as he is making his stride towards home plate).

That said, I saw what you were referring to during feed....

Yeah, but it is the best I could come up with :)

He needs to just keep the ball in the glove as long as he can, Nolan used to keep it hidden through most of his takeback and then just reveal it right as his arm started coming forward. Much more deception.

Of course, if it throws off his rhythm or mechanics, then leave well enough alone.

That one was the furthest hit...

The smash double that went by Young seemed well hit as well...

I watched as much as they'd show on the Ranger website. Glad I have a 32" HD flat screen for my monitor. Thought he was rather impressive today. 94-95 with the 4 seemer. Had a really wicked slider. I thought his curve was impressive. Could throw all of his pitches for quality strikes. His fielding and hustle to 1st was very, very impressive. Not quite Kenny Rogersesque but pretty darned good.

I really liked that he cracked up when that ball hit the wall and prevented the home run. Shows he really understood the score that this was spring training and that spring training games just don't count one iota. I really liked that he didn't NIBBLE ala CJ. Throws quality strikes, gets ahead of the hitters and knows what to do when ahead in the count. I am going to really, really enjoy watching this guy pitch for the Rangers. I can't wait until the regular season when he is bringing his A game and his velocity is a couple of ticks better. Anyone who thinks he was throwing his best stuff today is crazy.

Darvish is still getting a feel for things and almost certainly wasn't throwing 100%. It's obvious from the fact that he pitched out of the stretch his entire appearance that he was working on stuff as much as anything. I think what he probably did begin to learn today is that with all big league hitters, if you make a mistake they'll hurt you. But I also like the fact that he was going right after hitters. Had 7 of 8 first pitch strikes. Pitch count was a little higher than you would like, but again he's clearly working on various stuff.

That splitter he threw for his third strikeout was nasty.
