The Lions need an elite edge rusher. There happens to be 2 worthy prospects at the top of this draft.

Kayvon is, by far, the leader in the clubhouse for me. He is a freakish game wrecker who makes plays all over the field.

Aiden is getting a lot of hype right now. He is getting credit as a Johnny Hustle, but Kayvon deserves that label too. Aiden gets compared to JJ Watt simply because they both played in the Big 10. Also, Aiden may not even be the best D-End on his own team.

To Aiden's credit he posted big numbers in the final two, all-important games. That counts for something, but not nearly as much as all the awe-inspiring plays made by Thibodeaux throughout his career.

I agree with pretty much all of this. And your Gatorade Fort avatar is pretty cool too.

Make pick 66 Bailey Zappe and you have a deal.
I was moved by your plight for Zappe. So I did a new draft. The consequences are dire! instead of an awesome WR, I could not pass on Dean. While the ILB of the Lions would become super awesome in this scenario, I did not address wr until late. I like the 2 late gambles. Fryfogle will be a bit like Golladay, and Gray will add a lot of speed. ENJOY YOUR GOD DAMN ZAPPE! WHO WILL HE THORW TO OLD LION....WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I would be OK with Burks at 24. Going back to back LB in rd1 and rd2 seems crazy to me. Then just take whatever of the 2 LBs at 34. I would be fine with Hamilton at 2 or 3 too. Chris Harris has developed into a very good pass rusher as a 3-4 OLB. I am thinking Julian O will be the other. We have gotten away from the 4-3 and it has paid big dividends despite our lack of depth at LB. We need more depth at DL too. Flowers and Romeo are probably done. We probably want to replace Nick Williams too.

I think both Dean and Lloyd are gone by 24, I would be shocked if we got one of them, let alone both. Really the only reason I took dean was in that mock draft a run on WR happened and any I thought worth it had been gone for round 2. I loved the idea of ILB being a position of strength though! That would increase the coverage for the middle of the field so much.

Exactly.

The only ILB signed for 2022, until a couple of days ago, was Derrick Barnes. They've added a 2019 UDFA and a recent Lions P.S. player Curtis Bolton to an extended contract through the 2022 season and that's not enough to not warrant double dipping at ILB, imo.

I really like how that mock draft fell into place, but as you stated, it would be shocking to get one yet alone both.

^^^^^^

Also, The Lions extended RB Reynolds through 2022.

Calling on @Old Lion

Signing youth to the active roster and extending them through the following season is common practice for NFL teams who have been eliminated from playoff contention. The Lions have already utilized this practice as recently as last week when they signed running back Craig Reynolds to a contract that extends through next season.

Some team would have snatched him up if they did not. Was not too expensive either and he is easily the number 3 right now.

FWIW regarding their top 100 Big Board as there are quite a few names I'm not familiar with. It's worthy of perusing the entire list and looking at the ranking number by position played. It's limited though as I'm not a subscribing member.

I don't watch nearly the amount of CFB as I had in the past over these last two years.

The following article is a good read, in my opinion, and it may very well depend on another person's bias.

I'm fine with either prospect becoming a Lion.

The only con they have with Hutchison is he is a senior, but I have to imagine he only returned because he broke his leg. I would love either of those comps, but if u get to choose. Give me Jared Allen

Is Cincinnati Bearcat WR, Alec Pierce, a possible future NFL receiver in the mold of Cooper Kupp ? IDK, but the similarities in body build, route running, contested catches, great hands, body control surely lead me to believe it's quite possible. Kupp had the greater CFB stat line in receptions and receiving yards, albeit in the FCS, but other than that there exist plenty of similar traits.

The reason I'm mentioning Pierce is my belief is that he might not be drafted until late day 2 or quite possibly not until sometime early day 4 due to the lack of stats. His on-field speed is faster and quicker than that of Kupp. He has a career average yards per reception of 17.5 and all three years are comparable to that career average. My problem is that I don't see a WR1 but did anyone truly believe Kupp was going to become the Rams WR1 prior to their drafting him ?

I'm not a fan of Purdue's David Bell because I see a lot of what he does on the field being similar to Cephus but with better speed than the latter. I pretty much see comparable traits in Pierce when speaking of both Cephus and Bell, however Pierce may have more on-field speed than Bell does.

Hutchison had a brake out year as a Senior.
Thibodeaux has been consistent with a handful or so more starts.

Either of those guy would help us but Hamilton is a rare talent for a safety. If he puts up good times at the combine then he is my guy. The injury will be a factor in that too so we will see. Only one of the other guys will be there for us at number 2 so it will be a choice between Kyle and who is left.
