Exactly right. Shows how desperate teams are to have franchise quarterbacks...

Even past years when there weren’t elite QB prospects, the top couple have gone near the top of the draft.

QB just too important. The teams that need them are going to spend a pick on the guy they want.

My argument in Kenny Pickett can be seen as the antithesis of the last QB the Skins took a chance on. Haskins was a one year wonder. He sat his turn surrounded by elite talent on his OL, running game and receivers. He did it for one year, faced little adversity and was anointed. Pickett started early with some success but then hit a lull as the DCs caught up to him. He worked and evolved and made the game slow down for him. I think the better prospect is the one that has already demonstrated that response to adversity and had to work to evolve. Just my opinion but I think those guys are an easier projection.

Yeah.

Still getting suspended though once that clears.

I bet at least half a season. maybe more.
I might be naive but i still believe in Baker. I think having a torn labrum, fractured soldier, and a ton of injured lineman effects a guy....

BUT

Albert Breer said he thought hte Browns might be interested. I would prob. offer 2 first rounders and Kareem Hunt, and maybe another decent/solid young player.

Browns have lost are 0/6 this year in 6 games that came down to the last possession. 2 of those were on egregiously filthy calls. Not gonna take a lot to flip that.

shit- if the Chiefs beat the Bengals and the Rams beat the Ravens next weekend- the Browns can still make the playoffs- which is mind boggingly.

You missed the opportunity to win big with the Mayfield window if they can’t win a Super Bowl. Mayfield is a plus option when he’s on a cheaper rookie deal. That means you can spend more on the rest of the roster. Mayfield is a top 15-20 QB. That’s not good enough unless he’s surrounded by a loaded roster.

Haskins was a disaster.

I told you guys he had no chance to be a decent NFL starter when he was drafted.

Don’t know enough about Pickett yet, but at this stage he seems like a much better prospect than Haskins was and therefor might require a trade up to the top of the draft to land.

And that is a tough sell for me.

Steelers are going to have real interesting Pickett too supposedly.

unless the Saints trade up- i highly doubt they get him @bksballer89

I hear you. I was just going by a mock draft i saw late last month. Had the saints getting him with their pick but guess his stock went up since then....bummer

I get that. Another guy I would take a flyer on that will only cost a 3rd or 4th round pick unless he blows up after combine and the like is Dorian Thompson-Robinson. He has an injury history and he’s another guy that has had the struggles and came out the other side a more refined player. I think his skill set lends itself to success in the new NFL as he can extend plays with his legs, compliment his team’s run game making them respect QB run, etc… he also seems to have NFL level arm talent.

Mayfield is still on his rookie deal next year.

I think its overwhelmingly likely he gets healthy, they get another receiver, and he is the QB next year.

sometimes you gotta take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Not too long ago the Browns were in a 1-31 streak.

All in all- I cant argue with the process.

they hit very very nicely on Newsome and JOK in this last draft- those will be 2 great pieces for the defense for a long time to come.

they have cap space too. OBJ's 15 million comes off- which will prob. go to Ward ( a top 5 corner). They do not have a lot of needs either. Just re-sign Clowney on the d-line, and add a wideout.

Its why I could at least see them exploring a Watson trade- they just dont need a whole lot. Just to get healthy, covid free, and get some experience. It is still a very very young team at all the important positions.

Some of it is Pickett’s play but a lot of it is some guys projected to be good have fallen off considerably. It’s like Pickett and then a large drop off in quality to the next guy. This will drive him into the top 5 and as TLance stated quite possibly the 1 overall.

I don’t know that they will draft that high. Lots of teams that draft ahead of them will be looking at QB. The Lions immediately come to mind.
I do not think Pickett is a clean enough prospect to be a top 3 pick. Even now Mock's have him at #10.

I think the Lions build up a little more and get more ready before taking their QB. They will take one of the DE's from Michigan or Oregon this year--- and wait for a better QB draft at the top. At least that is what I think. Getting a top flight DE to go with their left tackle Sewell they took last year is a good way to start a rebuild. Go with the QB when the draft is better and they are closer to having a team around him.

The main problem for DTR is that he has been a very inconsistent passer. He will look really good for a game or a half and then come out the next half or game and is a disaster. He reminds me of some of the Oregon QBs under Kelly. Good in college, not so much in the NFL.

The number 1 QB is ALWAYS in play at #1 overall regardless of how good a prospect he is.

Kyler Murray wasn’t viewed as a top 15 pick until Arizona started seriously considering him at #1.

Now it appears that AZ was right.

I personally love it. The Cowboy Cockroaches are starting to develop that belief again. They actually think this year will be different. I’m seeing their fans talking about Micah Parsons as the league MVP. A defensive player hasn’t won that award since LT in 1986, haha. But that’s who Cowboy fans are. So we haters of “America’s Team” have to love this moment. So when it goes to shit like it always does (Dez Caught it, Romo can’t hold on an extra point, etc…) it’s gonna hurt them more because they actually believed that this year would be different. Let’s fucking go! I’m here for all of it.

I can see that too. I think overall there are more quality prospects in the 2023 draft. At the same time, I don’t know if any of them will actually be as good as Pickett. I think Pickett has a great shot at being a plus NFL starter. Again, just my opinion and nobody in that league pays me for that opinion on prospects. Haha

I agree with his inconsistency. But I also look at his mechanics which I think are long and poor. I think with good coaching he can develop into something. It’s a high ceiling kind of 3rd or 4th round pick that comes with risk of just being a wasted pick.
