@SteelersPride - about the RB discussion on the other thread. Like many I second guessed all their early picks from Harris, Freiermuth and Green. I got sold on Harris and Freiermuth due to how well they played and both the makings to be greats on this team.

dont get me wrong. I really like them both. But is najee really playing great? Hes doing well in the pass game. In the run game hes avg 3.7 ypc. His numbers are the product of sheer volume. I also really like freirmuth

But as this season goes on, namely these last two games, proved over and over why they shouldn't have ignored the o-line. They could have easily re-signed Conner and got the same production as Harris due to the awful play calling/o-line.

Ryan Clark rarely had to ever tackle breakout RB's with Hampton, Hoke, Timmons, Foote, Farrior, and Polamalu in front of him. Also, Clark was built more like Polamalu and less like a true FS.

I don't think they moved on from Conner because they questioned his ability to be an RB.

It's because he rarely was on the field to BE the RB. He spent way too much time injured. I'm glad for him that he is succeeding in Arizona, but the Steelers just couldn't depend on him going forward.

Doesn't mean they needed to spend a 1st on his replacement though.

2. They get hurt and out long-term.

I think a first round C is a whole different thing than a first round RB.

If you have a shit line, even Derrek Henry is getting tackles in the backfield. If you have a great OL, they can make a pedestrian RB very productive.

Was using a center as an example. Their values are different, but there is a need for stock in other positions (G and T) unless you rely on a center to snap shotgun and that said center can't.

So true on that point I think that is the reason the whole RB should ever be valued that high, unless your team has a competent o-line. Le'Veon Bell got the chance to excel behind one and when he thought we was better than his line we all see what happened to him.

Ryan Clark made some of the biggest hits that I have ever seen watching the Steelers. Granted, most of those hits were on semi-defenseless receivers lol.

Yeah, that's a big difference. Setting up a hit stick for a receiver trying to catch a ball vs an RB with the ball coming right at you full speed.

Yeah the whole Ryan Clark debate with all the talent that was in front of him was there ever a time he truly had to tackle a RB trucking right at him? If he did I truly don't remember it. Not saying he was a bad tackler I just don't remember it much.

Tuszka had a moment or two but shouldn't ever be more than a ST depth. Taco on the other hand, proved unequivocally that he doesn't belong in the NFL.

I can't remember the last time they were forced to play guys they just picked up off the street. We've seen people get called up from the PS plenty, but rarely ever with guys that hadn't been with the team during camp. It's scary how depleted the defense is.

I think we can all officially agree that the Ahkello Witherspoon experiment is a colossal failure lol. I'd like to see Justin Layne get more snaps outside of ST. But its scary that he couldn't get snaps with how depleted the secondary was last night.
