IDK if I can be as dismissive of that. I mean, we never had any tackling concerns with Ryan Clark, did we?Sure, but his open-field tackling abilities of a full speed RB that already beat the front 7 is low down on what I expect a FS to do.

dont get me wrong. I really like them both. But is najee really playing great? Hes doing well in the pass game. In the run game hes avg 3.7 ypc. His numbers are the product of sheer volume. I also really like freirmuth@SteelersPride - about the RB discussion on the other thread. Like many I second guessed all their early picks from Harris, Freiermuth and Green. I got sold on Harris and Freiermuth due to how well they played and both the makings to be greats on this team.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Disregard above I didnt read all of it lol.But as this season goes on, namely these last two games, proved over and over why they shouldn't have ignored the o-line. They could have easily re-signed Conner and got the same production as Harris due to the awful play calling/o-line.
@FaCe-LeE-uS - I think my luck ran out. Someone else should start next week's thread.
Ryan Clark rarely had to ever tackle breakout RB's with Hampton, Hoke, Timmons, Foote, Farrior, and Polamalu in front of him. Also, Clark was built more like Polamalu and less like a true FS.IDK if I can be as dismissive of that. I mean, we never had any tackling concerns with Ryan Clark, did we?
First round RB is like a first round C. Unless you have 2019 or 2020 Derrick Henry out of the box the value won't be realized until the rest of the team is fixed.I don't think they moved on from Conner because they questioned his ability to be an RB.
It's because he rarely was on the field to BE the RB. He spent way too much time injured. I'm glad for him that he is succeeding in Arizona, but the Steelers just couldn't depend on him going forward.
Doesn't mean they needed to spend a 1st on his replacement though.
I think a first round C is a whole different thing than a first round RB.First round RB is like a first round C. Unless you have 2019 or 2020 Derrick Henry out of the box the value won't be realized until the rest of the team is fixed.
And we see this way too often with RB's Their value is never realized (ie...playing on a Super Bowl team) because one of two things:
1. They hit the 30 year old wall
2. They get hurt and out long-term.
What is it like 3 RB's have been the Super Bowl MVP since 1990? The position has been devalued for a long time due to long-term durability.
Was using a center as an example. Their values are different, but there is a need for stock in other positions (G and T) unless you rely on a center to snap shotgun and that said center can't.I think a first round C is a whole different thing than a first round RB.
If you have a shit line, even Derrek Henry is getting tackles in the backfield. If you have a great OL, they can make a pedestrian RB very productive.
Ryan Clark made some of the biggest hits that I have ever seen watching the Steelers. Granted, most of those hits were on semi-defenseless receivers lol.Ryan Clark rarely had to ever tackle breakout RB's with Hampton, Hoke, Timmons, Foote, Farrior, and Polamalu in front of him. Yeah, that's a big difference. Setting up a hit stick for a receiver trying to catch a ball vs an RB with the ball coming right at you full speed.Ryan Clark made some of the biggest hits that I have ever seen watching the Steelers. Granted, most of those hits were on semi-defenseless receivers lol.
I still recall quite a few great hits from Clark that weren't on receivers. He was a sure-tackler from what I remember. Even Mike Mitchell was known to lay the lumber, though he was shit in coverage.Yeah, that's a big difference. He was one of those "flex hards" no matter the situation.Mike Mitchell the only thing I remember about him is hearing him scream at the end of every play he was burnt on.
Never heard of them before in my life, and hopefully never will again.Did anyone else audibly ask themselves who the fuck Delontae Scott & Daniel Archibong are during the game?
Saw this and was like who the FOOK are these guysDid anyone else audibly ask themselves who the fuck Delontae Scott & Daniel Archibong are during the game?
Tuszka had a moment or two but shouldn't ever be more than a ST depth. Taco on the other hand, proved unequivocally that he doesn't belong in the NFL.Never heard of them before in my life, and hopefully never will again.
Bad enough we had to hear 'Taco' and 'Tuszka'.
I can't remember the last time they were forced to play guys they just picked up off the street. We've seen people get called up from the PS plenty, but rarely ever with guys that hadn't been with the team during camp. It's scary how depleted the defense is.Never heard of them before in my life, and hopefully never will again.
