I like Grant as a player but I dont think he’s a fit with what they do. I don’t really like any of the Pistons assets as a fit with Philly outside of Bey. But even there, I don’t think the matching salary takes with a Bey deal provide much value for the Sixers. Just my opinion.

I fully get he's basically Tobias Harris 2.0

With stuff like this in the NBA, there’s always the possibility of engaging a third team and building a match with multiple rosters. That’s not ideal for the Sixers because it means they likely have to give up an asset in addition to Simmons in that scenario but if stories are true, Sixers could be desperate to attain value through this deal.

We can’t reasonably be talking about Simmons playing anywhere. He says he has mental illness, who knows how long or what is required to fix that. If he truly wants to play he needs to show he is ok.

You do get the mental health issues cover a very wide umbrella right?

Stress and anxiety is included in that.

Change of scenery could completely remove most of it.

Oh, I am quite sure his "mental health issues" would be miraculously, magically, instantaneously cured within minutes of him being traded out of Philly. It would be a very dramatic recovery!

It would be the ultimate "end of the process" move to trade a first overall pick in Simmons for a guy in Grant that the Sixers took in the second round btw. The ultimate squandering of draft assets coming full circle.

Actually, according to basketball reference, they traded grant for the pick the eventually became maxey

So there’s a cool synergy to it

Me too.

And what you all don’t realize is that doesn’t in any way prove he was faking.

Because stress caused by hundreds of thousands of home fans hating you can be a real thing.

Bullshit, if you really believe that in any way you are ignoring what has been said of him since college.

I am really not though.

I am sure he is lazy. He seems to avoid anything that might be difficult. I am also sure he is mentally soft.

So why is it so hard for you to believe he could have legit issues with that? He is soft, and facing the Philly fans will be very difficult.

Hell, I bet once he does get traded he won’t appear for road games in Philly either. Watch.

Nope, not poor Ben.

He deserves to be disliked. He has earned it.

But your franchise also continues to Plaxico Burress themselves every step of the way in their handling of him.

Ignoring the benefit of hindsight, I don't see what the Sixers do now that fixes this. Good or bad, the team still has to do whatever it takes to get the most value for him. And if that means icing him until 2022 then that's what they do.

You are right.

But like I have said, I don’t see any reason they will get the value they seek in 2022.

I heard they want to make a play for James Harden this summer?

Like WTF?

Simmons + a couple assets for Kyrie. That is the only way you are getting value back by dealing for a similarly risky asset. Wait til the trade deadline and if it appears nothing is changing with Kyrie’s status, they might do that.

And I think I would rather have Kyrie over Harden to pair with Embiid anyway.

Their asking price continues to be ridiculous even as his value sinks.

Simmons and Maxey for Kyrie and Brown at the trade deadline
