Wildly overblown. He found an open man who ended up getting fouled.

This play is not even close to as bad as Steph curry hitting the popcorn vendor instead of making an easy pass to klay for a wide open 3 in 2016.

Yeah, other than it being the catalyst for Embiid saying it changed the game, Doc saying that he doesn't know if he can win a title with Ben, the organization not defending him and Simmons completely ghosting the franchise and refusing to play for them ever again...it's pretty overblown. lol

I get what you're saying, but that was pretty bad. Can't do that in really, any situation, but definitely not in that situation. It's not like they were down 3 with a few seconds left and he passed it to someone on the 3 point line. He passed because he was afraid he'd have to shoot free throws.

That play is overblown. Sixers scored on that play. It's indicative of his lack of confidence in his own shot, but would everyone have been happier if he took the shot and blew it instead?
Yes. The only player near him is Trae Young. He finishes the dunk and the foul shot he likely misses is a bonus if it goes down. He dished to Thybulle who was fouled and went 1 of 2. That play is focused upon because it is a microcosm of the epic gaping vagina that is Ben Simmons.

On that Simmons play…the die was cast after that. You can be a lot of things as an athlete in the city of Philadelphia. But if you’re a pussy, you’ll never hear the end of it. After that play, we were done with him and he could never play another game in a Sixers uniform. And he confirmed who he is to the fanbase by running like a bitch instead of trying to come back stronger.

No doubt. And for the record, at the tail end of a 1-13 record from ownership who was stealing money and didn’t care the Eagles front office sent out a fugazee skinny Santa Clause with no pillow and was likely tuned up. So the people in the stands that day (sitting amongst snow piles said shitty owners didn’t even clear before the day) grabbing snow and pelted that bitch and took out their frustration on what the owners had done to the Eagles.

I just love being able to say they boo'd Santa. That's freaking awesome.

That’s my point.

They scored, and got a foul on the hawks best player.

That play was not the problem or why they lost

Imagine if you have been telling someone for 4 years to go dunk the damn basketball when they can, then at that moment watch him do that. I will always believe it was the last straw.

It was absolutely a bad play, I think it deserved some criticism. It got amplified by the moment. 76ers needed a scapegoat to explain away their underachieving in the playoffs.

The entire organization decided the thing Simmons does not do well is way more important than all of the things he does well. I don't think they expected him to go full child with his tantrum response though. Maybe they thought it would light the fire to make him learn how to shoot a free throw?

They should have had 3 points, a guaranteed two points and came away with 1 point. But reducing this event to time and score in a game full of possessions is missing the point. It’s deflating for a teammate with his play to announce to the team that he’s a pussy who doesn’t care about winning and possibly looking bad doing so. They played the next 2-3 minutes of game action in a funk. Seeing their All Star punk out like a bitch sent them into a tailspin. So much so that 45 minutes later when Embiid is in his post game press conference and he knows he shouldn’t go there he can’t help but comment on it. If you played sports you would understand this concept.

Who underachieved in the Sixers recent playoff run? I have my finger on two players but I’m interested to hear who you’re focused on.

Dude, I played in college.

I was recruited to play 2 other sports on college.

My base coach fucked up a championship game by holding me at 3rd. Fortunately I scored on a wild pitch anyway.

The reporter asked me about it after the game. Dude I blow him?

No. I supported him.

And even if Simmons dunks that home. You still lose.

Unlike the gs play where they wouldn’t have had to foul or gotten goaltended because they would’ve pulled the ball out to run more clock.

I don’t think Simmons wanted to either.

That’s why he asked for the trade so early in the offseason.

Just like Jimmy butler did.

Both teams ignored it. So both guys acted out.

I think Simmons should show up and be both butler and harden. Would be comedic gold

I don’t know what happens after that. I know they played like ass for the next 2-3 minutes of the game and they didn’t get closer than that moment when they would have gone up one with the dunk.

I can guarantee that If Simmons we’re producing his normal numbers and made that exact same play, it would have been nothing at all.

Danny Green before his injury seemed to have lost his shot for some reason. Simmons outside of free throws was actually pretty close to his regular self. His already terrible free throw percentage dropped 30%, and for a guy who already is not a scorer, it is bad. I absolutely think his slump(Can you slump when already terrible?) at the line led to his not taking shots. No question on that.

I would call out Shake Milton and Ben Simmons. Simmons foul line issues shouldn’t have been what they were. So you can’t make foul shots. Suck it up and deal and find other ways to impact the game. Dude was scared of the ball. The NBA PG was scared to have the ball in his hands. That’s fucked up. In games 4-7 of the Hawks series he didn’t take a single shot in the 4th quarter of any of those games.

If he’s shooting 30% from the ft like, then passing the ball would’ve been the right move lol

No it’s not. He finishes the dunk for a guaranteed two. You’re telling me that 5’11’’ Trae Young is going to foul 6’10’’ Ben Simmons so hard that he causes a missed dunk?

I don't, I see your point. But it seems like Philly was already getting fed up with the lack of improvement throughout his career.

Imo, that play was the final straw on what had steadily become more of an issue each year.
