We needed that one after yesterday’s debacle.

Leury has quietly had a great 2nd half of the season. I'd also have to say - his best position is SS - though he doesn't have near the range of Timmy Anderson there.

Nice Sox win! As Ozzie would say: "We'll take dat one!"

if by grounded you mean in the real world, you're right face it. if it weren't for me you all would be sky high on this team acting like it's the greatest all time. tim's the greatest ss, robert is the greatest cf'r, abreu is the greatest first baseman, liam is the greatest closer ... etc. none of this is true! (yes, i know you know this. you just hate admitting it) this is an above average team with a crap coach playing average baseball. personally i am prepared for a short playoff (hope i'm wrong but based on what i see that's what's gonna happen). i think next year should be better. hopefully hernandez is gone and engel (or whatever pickup you want to see) is back in right and the team manages to stay healthier that the shit they went through this season. they will need help in the relief dept. as kimbrel seems washed up to me (what a horrible deal that has turned into) and i expect kopech to be a starter. starters look to be ok (again, if they can stay healthy). need a second baseman badly! would also be nice if they got a real manager.

You could have done this with a Yadda Yadda...

And, without me - you would continue to think ballplayers who are in a slump are actually swirling down the commode of of no return - such as your thoughts on Grandal - Giolito - Leury Garcia - Rodon - Rey Lopez and now Robert. Overcoming injury - or adjusting to the league adjusting its strategy against the Sox players - are all calamities involving players stealing money from the franchise whose talent will continue to deteriorate.

My favorite though - was Madrigal who didn't have the arm to play 2nd base - followed by your gripping that the Sox traded him.

Balance has been restored - you too are welcome!

I don't disregard what your takes are - as they usually have some truth buried there somewhere and often give me pause for thought. :)

oh pfffft! my thoughts on grandal haven't changed he's a occasional power bat that can't field and therefore not worth his salary. giolito is a good pitcher who can be inconsistant, garcia is acceptable as a fill-in, lopez sucks ... still, and my only issue with robert is that he's no gg'r. his defense has been vastly over-stated. all of these players you mentioned have nothing to do with the 'swirling' you mentioned. the only guy that stopped 'swirling' is rodon (whom i didn't mention) .... and don't tell me you didn't feel exactly the same as all of us here about him before this year. all of the above suggests your post was .... dishonest. and certainly not a balance.
madrigal is not a great fielder. not sure what your point was about him. but as i mentioned, it is apparent NOW that it was a horrible trade. do you disagree? you think kimbrel is still the great reliever he used to be?

your reply was very IMbalanced imo.

The Grandal takes are some of the worst to ever have been put forth on this board. As it made statements about both his offense and defense that were easily disputed by numbers. Except those who put them forth would rather focus on one number in each area, with ZERO context around it. Not to mention, numbers that TOTALLY suck as statistics.

Also, LAST BUT NOT LEAST... the idea that Grandal was a bad overall player and signing (I shit you not) one week into our shortened season last year. Ignoring his entire career prior because "he hasn't been good here". FOR LIKE TEN GAMES!!! I couldn't believe my eyes.

It was unbelievable and still blows my mind. I will never, ever let that die.

This dude literally thinks arguably the best defensive catcher in the MLB for years now is a bad defender.

That's his knock on him.

Oh, this man has been wrong, plenty.
