Waiving McKinnie helps to reduce salary and may be involved in another deal. The first is probably the more likely scenario.

They clearly have someone in mind to fill those last few spots then.

Why waive a guy making $1.8m who won’t make it in the rotation for a guy on a vet min ($2-2.5m) who won’t make it in the rotation?

Pelinka is cooking something up…

Best fit for Danny Green anyone? I like New Orleans...
The Sixers. Embiid gets him shots. He starts. In a Sixers world without Ben Simmons his defense becomes even more valuable. I don’t think there are many other spots where he can get starters minutes and play with a team that’s relevant.

I do like how they added some young guys with potential: Monk, Nunn and THT. They needed that will all the old guys on that team

Two fresh 2 way players in Ayayi and Reaves also. Will be interesting to see if Brown or McClung can make the roster from their Summer League/camp invites.

Yeah that tweet wasn't surprising. It was known months ago that he wanted 100M so saying he started the process seeking 25M yearly sounds about right. 4 yr/100

But if I'm him, I would just bet on himself. Sign a 1 yr deal and get back at it next summer. He's not a bad player

Yep. He didn't play well AND he was apparently a locker room problem. That's not the best way to get paid $25 million per...

Take a 1 year deal for whatever he can get and show last season was an anomaly. Either that, or beg the Lakers to try to find an S&T destination for him. But it seems that ship may have sailed.

Didn’t he already sign with someone?
Technically he hasn’t signed a contract yet so LA can offer him 1 year $15M prove-it deal before he hits the market and gets offered a max contract

That isn’t how it works though. Especially for guys like them who don’t project to ever be more than role players.

Might not have a choice to get more than a min next

They could play themselves into extensions with the Lakers if they play well and outlast the older 1 year deals on the roster. The team needs to have at least some youth built in for continuity. If they play well, they will get decent backup minutes in the regular season.
