I was just going to come on and post the video because I think this was the best moment of the Olympics so far.

Worth watching the whole thing because these two run and jump like they identify as gazelles. So impressive.

The backstory on lamont marcell jacobs who won the gold in the 100m for Italy is pretty amazing too*. Has never run sub 10 seconds until today. American father who he has not had contact with since he moved back to italy with his italian mother at the age of 5 months old.

Decided to start seeing a sports psychologist during covid and the psychologist made the suggestion that he needed to try and reach out and find his father in texas to solve his mental health issues outside of sport. He did that. And his sprinting improved

watching the womens' 200m heats, there was one heat with three different runners who were "too manly" to race at longer distances.
i guess there's medication you can take to suppress testosterone to allow you to run 400m+ races, but these gals declined and chose the shorter distance instead.
one of them had the fastest time of all of the heats, didn't remember who the other two were.

next heat, the Jamaican favourite eased up a little too much when she thought she had it in the bag and missed qualifying by .004 seconds. ouch

One person's shame is another person's opportunity. Biles quitting on the team and forever destroying her reputation opened up a door for Sunni Lee and she made it big. Great job by her. 3 medals; one of each. Well done, young lady.
