Well baseball you play for three hours at a time 162 times. Football is 1/10 of that.

If you are not up to bat, or fielding a play on defense, how much effort or energy are you wasting in a game? That's why they play so many in a season or 2 in one day.

Then they get on luxury planes and fly home.

Pitchers actually use a ton of energy. But most of the game is, indeed, mental, and it can be observed that the greater percentage of a job is mental over physical in each of various categories is directly proportional to pay. So baseball being the most mental sport, as I believe it is, would tend toward the higher pay.

Also, since baseball players have more time actually allocated to the mandatory facets of their trade, they have a higher opportunity cost.

The coaches in football have a greater mental task, but the players in baseball have the largest of any players in sports. The conflict between batter and pitcher is the single most compelling internal struggle in sports, I think.

I can't. I don't like the NBA, but I did play basketball for 10 years, and rather enjoyed it.

You actually bring up an interesting point. Pitchers, catchers, and baserunners reading each other. Pitchers will change their motions to the plate to try to throw off a baserunners guess as to when to get the best jump, baserunners will read every movement the pitcher makes in order to get the best jump, and catchers will try to call appropriate pitches, pitch-outs, and pick-offs to keep that runner at first. When adding that to the pitcher trying to get the hitter out and the hitter trying to keep the pitcher from getting him out, a lot of subtle things happen that, to the trained eye, are actually quite fascinating.

I just find basketball to be a predictable game. And high scoring is boring. I like baseball, appreciate football, love hockey, but basketball doesnt do it for me.

Yeah, if the NFL does have a lockout after this season, rookie contracts will be a big reason why.

Football is by far the most overpaid. You play once a weeks for 16 weeks. You even get one week off.

I disagree with your reasoning here. There's a reason football players only play once a week and 16 games a year. It's because the sport is so brutal their bodies can't handle more. Running backs very rarely make it past 30 years of age and even when they do they're not nearly as effective. And now with all these studies coming out showing all the brain trauma that NFL players have received throughout their careers, it just proves how physically demanding the sport really is. If anything NFL players are underpaid, especially compared to how much money the owners make. Players get barely anything.
