Seriously though, I have been skeptical since hearing the MVP talk. Nothing against the man, but I just haven't watched him enough. Tonight goes a long way in proving all that talk though.

As much as it pains me to say it, he really is the shit. Real fun to watch. Not a fast skater, but he can bob and weave through high traffic areas on the ice pretty friggin' nasty. And of course he can score. :spy:

He has speed comparable to almost anybody in the league but he doesn't need to use it because his head is on a swivel dreaming up all sorts of possibilities as he comes into the zone.

Damn glad to have him back in the lineup.

Giroux is one of the few Flyers i like. Him, Bryz, and Kimmo are on the short list...

The guy is having an amazing year. He kinda surprises me at times b/c I don't think of him as being tops at anything, but he's really, really good at everything and one of those guys that just seems to know the right place to be at the right time.

Nice to see someone recover quickly from a concusssion.

GM Bob Clarke made a hell of a draft pick selection (even though he forget his name).

Great player, but not on Datsyuks level yet, imo.

I honestly just had to look up if Datsyuk was even playing this season, since I hadn't really heard his name recently. Now Datsyuk is a great player and all, but Giroux is exhibiting skills that make you one of those special players and he's only 23 which means he's going to get better. It's a great time to be a Flyers fan with all the young talent we have developing, but Giroux is starting to make that jump to superstar level and the best part is he just shrugs it off and keeps having fun.

Datsyuk or Giroux would vary based on the team. They bring some different weapons to the table beyond points.

I'd definitely put the "Elite" tag on Giroux, but wouldn't go quite as far as calling him the second-best. As much as a lot of people have fallen off the band-wagon, I still think of Ovechkin as that guy. No substantial evidence, I just get more nervous when Ovie has the puck against the Penguins.

Not necessarily. Ovechkin peaked in his early 20s. And did you know Jeff Skinner peaked when he was only 19 years old? ;)

Let me tell you something. I haven't even begun to peak. And when I do peak, you'll know. Because I'm gonna peak so hard that everybody in Philadelphia is gonna feel it.

I really hope you guys aren't comparing the two. Not a knock on Giroux, he's an amazing player leading the league, but the two comeback games aren't comparable. Jusssst sayin'.

It's true. Giroux didn't have his "statement game" against the Isles. Big difference.

As swampy as you think this may be, I'd agree.

same goes for me.. not sayin giroux is better than crosby, but i think their 'comebacks' were equally as impressive.. the isles are terrible (sorry B&I).

*shrugs* Not really swampy. I could easily counter with: Giroux did do it against a rookie goalie. It's all irrelevant anyway, they're two COMPLETELY different stories. I'm glad to see Giroux back so quickly, this league doesn't need another top 5 star out for a long time.

The only reason I disagree is because of the length of time. Sid hadn't played in a real game in 10 months. That's a long time. I mean, you forget the nuances of the game after such a long time. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had taken him a few games to score his first, because he hadn't been hit like that yet, or he hadn't been physically challenged yet. Giroux's awesome, but he missed 10 days, and 4 games in that span. Just irrelevant to compare the two.
