Jets need to replace Sam Darnold. All of the QBs in the divisional round of the playoffs are young guys who will be around for awhile. Sam Darnold isn't getting you any playoff wins in the future. Any mock draft that doesn't have the Jets picking a QB is wrong imo. I'll put that in writing.

Yeah that would be a mistake not drafting a QB. They still need go figure out their front office first off but whether it is Fields or Wilson they need to take a QB

Penei Sewell is an absolute physical freak. Or at least until I get to see the combine that seems to be the level of hype he is at. In a way that makes him the same level of OT prospect that Lawrence is as a QB prospect. You see potential for busting but the upside is so ridiculously high that Sewell almost has to be the first non-QB off the board.

Rashawn Slater seems like he is an Isaiah Wynn type. Top tier OT prospect living in a Guard's body. Voch Lombardi seems really high on his technique talking about how he shut down Chase Young. I realize internet youtuber opinions are generally a mixed bag but I feel like Slater is a pretty safe overall pick but I don't think he gets picked over some of the sexier picks in the draft. Wynn dropped all the way to pick 23 but he has also suffered a long list of injuries so I'm not really sure I can make the comparison to what Slater's stock should be.

I think Sewell is pretty much a sure pick like Nelson was coming out....but tackles are more valuable so I see him the same as TL. Can’t miss prospect, very high ceiling

He is like a Create a Player with maxed out stats. Reminds me of the football version of Greg Oden. I'm not saying he'll bust just that he stands out.

I guess the question for the Jets is whether or not you take a generational OT prospect limping along the worst starting QB in the league or if you roll the dice on a good QB prospect but not have any good OL or WRs.

I guess it basically comes down to the FO...do we see a clear, can’t-miss QB at #2. And not the Sam Darnold “can’t miss” but on Sewell’s level of a prospect.

Wilson is intriguing. Fields might have a high ceiling but he has a lot to work on

Wilson has good footwork, good accuracy, and a good arm. Maybe some questionable decision making but we're talking college so I wouldn't hold that against him. Both Wilson and Fields are a bit overconfident...but thats what coaches are for. Wilson seems more pro ready than Fields but Fields is that high upside QB prospect that teams should take chances on. Same with Trey Lance. If you're a fan of a QB needy team then this period might be difficult because there is no way to evaluate Trey Lance.

Its just that with how rookie QB contracts work and how many young ones are already putting up big numbers its kinda hard to see a team still giving a Sam Darnold a chance when there will be 3 QB prospects for the Jets to choose from. Then again, Baker Mayfield had quite the turnaround this year so a team could roll with Darnold but they'd need to invest in 2 top WR prospects, at least one top RB prospect, and then draft Sewell. I think nothing short of them getting the Bills offensive coordinator would I even attempt that if I'm the Jets.

Miami, on the other hand, almost has to take Sewell if he is there at 3. I think Ja'marr Chase is a truly awesome WR prospect but you don't take a WR prospect with average measurables over a prototypical OT prospect. Tua also hasn't had nearly the same opportunity as Darnold.

TL;DR I think it would take Fort Knox to get one of these teams to trade out of the top 5.

I just don’t think Darnold ever had it in him...if they don’t like the QB’s-take Sewell and give him one more year or sign another one for 1 year or something. There is just not one thing that stands out about Darnold. Baker at least had the strong arm, confidence and pinpoint accuracy at times...it was his decision-making which comes in time. Josh Allen’s turnaround has been remarkable..but even before he had can’t miss attributes...Darnold has nothing imo.

Fields and Wilson both are young and have issues with that but Fields has issue with pressure at times and a slower release but those things are fixable. So that’s why I think the Jets need to take a QB but for some reason if they don’t Sewell is a must.

If Sewell is as cant miss as it sounds. You think it is more than possible he goes #2? And not a QB in the 1st two picks?

I agree. However im not sold on either player as a definite “answer” at qb

The tough part here is that the Jets are probably the only team in the NFL, best that I can tell, is 100% not going to make the playoffs next year and should be thinking 2-year rebuild. If the Texans trade Watson then I'd also add them to the list but generally speaking everyone else in the league is probably looking at this draft from a different mindset.

So if you're the Jets then maybe you just go BPA without factoring in QB because the roster is so terrible and Sewell might be the BPA in the whole draft in terms of upside.

I kinda think Zach Wilson is the guy, though. Justin Fields, to me, is about the same level of prospect as Marcus Mariota coming out of college. There is a ton of talent there but I don't think that the Jets are a team that could actually develop Fields and he does still need to develop. Zach Wilson is more of a Brett Favre mold. Gunslinger, great arm, surprising mobility. Comes from a smaller school and not a top school so will be used to being a bit of an underdog on the Jets. Lance, Fields, and Mac Jones are all used to playing against inferior competition. So for me the QBs at this early stage are:

1. Trevor Lawrence, #1 overall
2. Zach Wilson, Top 5 pick
3. Justin Fields, Rd1
4. Trey Lance, Rd1
5. Mac Jones, Rd2

Mac Jones is interesting because he really isn't that athletic. I think for him to go rd1 there would have to be a team sold on him having a better workout routine and added muscle mass thus creating a higher upside. Which could totally be a thing. Tom Brady fell in the draft for being unathletic, so I do think that will be the sticking point with him.

Anyways, I'm sure this list will age poorly but thats what I'm seeing atm.

Praying that Wilson or Lance slides... Doubt the Steelers have a legit shot at either, but one could hope. I think the Steelers will be looking at OT or Najee Harris.

That would be a deep slide. I dont see how they don’t go top 10 even with question marks...just too much talent.

yeah, their roster is abysmal. One of the worst in a LONG time.......and top 3 worst in the past 2 decades.

Yeah, ive heard ppl clamoring for smith from bama or a tackle. But its the silly season, and you know teams go qb's.

I dunno man. I keep saying this, not to you. But why Wilson? why lance? Yeah lance had that 1 awesome season. Yeah Wilson had a great year. But lots of guys put up video game numbers in college. Wilson showed promise last year. He had a meteoric rise this year. He has an adequate, but not great arm. He is athletic. But its mostly draft pundits and fantasy football pushers right now. I mean last year eason was a first rounder at this time( i got crushed for saying he was a mid round pick at best). Jones, Trask etc are in the publics mind because SEC SEC SEC and big numbers......

The more I read on Jones, the more I think he's not what the media hype is right now. I dunno. I'm just not sold on Wilson YET. He could be the guy. I want more evaluation, more draft process.

I also have read numerous places... That Wilson has a bit of an attitude, and his family is a PITA. They also think he may have some coaching issues and plays hero ball(Wentz anyone lol). Walterfootball(I know I know) claims multiple sources compare him to Johnny football without the drugs. Now walterfootball i don't believe is a great source. But the one guy on there, Charlie does do some nice work and has some good draft analysis, and a pretty good draft record with his rumors(better than most)...it came from him so i keep it in mind.

I dunno....so for me lets pose this question......

why Wilson over Trask or Mac Jones?

why Wlson top 5 over say, Shane Buechele or Sam Ehlinger ..... i know the answers, but most ppl just point to stats...(again not saying you)

Yeah I haven’t watched Wilson enough to give an opinion on him. I just think if you are the Jets and you do need help virtually everywhere and you dont have that sure thing at QB like Lawrence you go OL and there Sewell is a pretty sure pick. They would have Becton and Sewell that is a great start to building up their OL than they can go from there. They are likely awful again next year unless something crazy happens so they go QB there OR they could try to trade for Watson or something. I just don’t know if they have enough for him and they would be giving up future picks which is very valuable for their organization going forward.

I dont disagree with that thought process at all. Its actually smart. I fear they kill another qb...
