Seeing as the collapse of the Pittsburgh Steelers has commenced, this changes a lot in the AFC for me. With these losses, and I predict a 4th next week, the division is up for grabs come the Steelers/Browns finale. Last week, I had the Browns in due to me believing that the Steelers would rest their starters, leaving the door open for an easy Cleveland win. With the current events, I believe Pittsburgh plays fully Week 17 and beat Cleveland. With 4 teams at 11-5 (Titans, Dolphins, Ravens and Browns), 1 team gets left out. Tennessee gets in based on common win %, Miami gets in based on win % against the AFC (Miami 8-4 to Baltimore 7-5) and Baltimore gets in due to their regular season sweep of the Browns.

Out with the Cleveland Browns?

I would put more money on the Browns winning the division than the Steelers at this point. What are the odds the Steelers will beat the Colts and Browns. There is a good chance they will lose both. The Browns play the Jets and the Steelers. If the Steelers lose to the Colts who are a bit better than Cincy that last game will be for the division title and the Steelers could end up a wild card

Ironically. If they beat the Steelers they could win the division. If they lose they could be knocked out of the playoffs (figuring the Bills rest players & Dolphins win Week 17)

After playing with the NFL playoff predictor

AFC
1. Kansas City Chiefs 14-2
2. Buffalo Bills 12-4
3. Cleveland Browns 12-4
4. Indianapolis Colts 12-4
5. Tennessee Titans 11-5
6. Pittsburgh Steelers 11-5
7. Miami Dolphins 11-5

Week 16 & 17 Notes.
Week 17 the Chiefs owning the #1 seed rest their players
Week 17 the Bills in this scenario owns the #2 seed & rest their players.
Week 17 if the Steelers beat the Browns but lose to colts. The Browns would be out of playoffs in this scenario. (this scenario the Steelers pull a SD Chargers & limps in the playoffs losing 5 straight)
Week 16 has the most important game for all of the AFC Seeding. Colts vs. Steelers. In this scenario I have the Colts winning, but the Steelers after dropping three straight might just use this game as their bounce back game. If they win the game. That would give the Titans the division & Colts wild card. Also that would mean the Bills dont rest their players & if the Dolphins lose that week 17 game they are out of the playoffs. Allowing the Ravens in. Who will also be 11-5. This completely changes every single seeding not #1 or #2

Wild Card Games
(5) Titans at (4) Colts
(6) Steelers
at (3) Browns
(7) Dolphins at (2) Bills

Titans colts game in a Knockout drag out fight to the end & the Cinderella stories of the Browns & Dolphins ends this weekend

Divisional Round
(4) Colts at (2) Bills
(6) Steelers at (1) Chiefs

No upsets this week.

AFC Championship
(2) Bills at (1) Chiefs

but I am not beyond seeing an upset here

NFC
1. Green Bay Packers 13-3
2. New Orlean Saints 12-4
3. Seattle Seahawks 12-4
4. Washington Redskins 8-8
5. Los Angeles Rams 10-6
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-6 (I predicted them 9-7 at start of season)
7. Arizona Cardinals 9-7

Week 16 & 17 Notes
I actually have the Skins winning out against the Panthers & Eagles (hoping Alex Smith is back) Making it to 8-8. Who would have thought the NFC East Champ wouldnt have a losing record.
In this scenario I have the Hawks beating the Rams in Week 16. if Rams win. Both still make playoffs they just swap the #3 & #5 seeds both at 11-5.
NFC Scenarios just not as interesting as the AFC's

Wild Card Games
(5) Rams at (4) Redskins
(6) Buccs at (3) Seahawks
(7)Cards at (2) Saints

All Home teams sweep. With the skins having the biggest upset in the playoffs this year. if the Rams did win. Wont matter. Neither team will beat the packers.

Divisional Round
(3) Seahawks at (2) Saints
(4) Skins at (1) Packers

Alex Smith's cinderella season comes to an end.

NFC Championship game
(2) Saints
at (1) Packers

Can see this game going either way. Thinking the Saints come in healthy all their pieces back & the defense playing well enough. They pull out a victory.

Super Bowl Championship Game
New Orlean Saints vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Saints banged up, missing their main WR. Brees just coming back played within 3 points of the Chiefs. So an upset is very possible with a healthy team.
With that said. Chiefs spoil Drew Brees fairy tale ending to his career by becoming back to back Champs.

Side note. I think it will be pretty cool & entertaining to see a Superbowl with some combo of Mahomes vs Brees or Rodgers. So with my luck some really messed up things will happen in the playoffs & I will miss out on this possible match up. LOL

Yeah but a lot of things have to go against the Browns. If PIT just beats Indy then the Browns are in with a win so it’s kinda like if hanging on that game unless the Dolphins lose one of two. Raiders need to wake up and take the Miami out

Marcus Mariota is probably playing for a starting job against the Dolphins. I'd say the Dolphins are still the favorite to miss the playoffs but the Steelers are right there with them.

If the Dolphins do win out then you're looking at one of the worst regular season losses in recent memory to whoever loses the Browns/Steelers game. I mean...that could be Big Ben's last game if he loses and losing 5 straight on an undefeated team would be one of the worst ways to go out.

As good as Cleveland is and how badly Pittsburgh is playing right now, I still think the Steelers beat the Browns Week 17. It's gonna be tough with it being in Cleveland but I still think Pittsburgh wins the game to win the division. Shit, for all we know, the Jets hang one on the Browns next week like they did against the Rams and that's how we win the division. I don't see that happening, but shit, any given Sunday.

If it’s any given Sunday why are you discounting other teams with tougher schedules.
Titans still play Packers. Also, play Texans who play in a ton of close games.
Colts play Steelers.
Dolphins play Raiders and Bills and have the toughest schedule remaining for a WC team. We can’t just assume the Bills are going to rest their starters for that game.

Only way Bills rest, I think, is if the 2 is locked in for them. would think they'd fight for a home game in divisional round if it was up for grabs still.

I still think Browns get in somehow with a win over Jets. seems only way they wouldn't is if every other game did not go their way.

If we are gonna take the Any Given Sunday argument and use it to defend every team, we might as well not even talk about what we think will happen. I think I can assume the Bills are going to rest their starters because that's what a prediction is. An assumption of what will happen during the last 2 weeks of the season. Isn't that the whole point of predictions?

In the scenario I ran. They do have it locked up.
Even in an alternate scenario they had it locked up. They had tiebreakers with teams they would have tied with in a lose week 17.

You can't use "Any Given Sunday" for every team or else you can't do predictions. It wouldn't work.
Well then why is it used for the Browns only vs a team that is coming off a huge high? I actually inclines me to think the Browns might win in a blowout actually...this team had their moment this year vs the Rams last week. They won't win another one. That matchup feels a lot like the NYG matchup except worse. Decent defense, horrible offense.

so for some teams it applies and some it doesn't? Pretty sure the term was created for all teams and not just certain ones.
