yep....maybe even 13-15.

It's not as simple as that. The level of quarterback play in the NFL goes up and down over the years. Some years there are more qb's playing at a high level than others.

In a season where you have a lot of qb's playing well, a slightly above average qb may fall in the 15-20 range and in years where there are fewer qb's playing at a high level, it may put them closer to 8-10.

Really would be better to make a list of all franchise QB’s first then go from there. If he is a slightly above average franchise QB he would be close to the middle of that list (8-10 maybe?). Just an above average QB would include non-franchise QB’s. I don’t think there are more than 20 franchise QB’s without looking

So franchise QB’s, in my mind (by division):

Josh Allen
Mahomes
Carr
Big Ben
Lamar
Baker
Burrow
Tannehill
Rivers
Herbert
Watson
Dak
Wilson
Goff
Murray
Jimmy G
Rodgers
Cousins
Stafford
Brees
Brady

Bridgewater (some can, I won’t yet)

That’s 22. 23 including Teddy. So average would be 11-14 range. Slightly above average franchise QB 8-10 or so...sounds about right

I can’t call Tua one yet but Burrow and Herbert are imo.

Exactly. The league is in a little bit of flux right now as some of the old guys like Rivers, Brees, Brady and Roethlisberger have gotten older and started to decline and are moving towards retirement. There are also a few where it's still unclear if they can be franchise qb's or not. So your 20 franchise qb's looks pretty accurate.

Right now, he's definitely in that 8-10 range.

Even then, this exercise is completely pointless.

Because I never put a number on it.

The prediction was that he had a chance to be good, but wasn’t going to be a superstar.

Seems pretty on target to me.

And even then, the data my fiend has does best in identifying the superstars and the busts. Which it has done extremely well. The mid-pack guys are harder to pinpoint.

Yeah, they beat the Rams.....and the Rams are better than the Browns.....

That defense.

They are solid against the run for sure.

I don't think they're as bad as their record. They've had a couple of winnable games get away from them. The one against your Raiders being the most egregious. But they've got a loooooong way to go. Especially on offense.

They're probably out of the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes, so it'll be interesting to see what they do. Darnold is talented and can play, but the lack of quality coaching and viable weapons is going to ruin his career if they don't get him some help. They should trade their pick for a good draft pick or 2 and a couple of guys who can actually play.

I agree.....

Gase is gone as soon as the season ends.

That’s not how it works lol. Baker is playing much better than Goff right now...running game. The Rans can dtay in games with their defense but they have offensive deficiencies

Gase is gone as soon as the season ends.

And he was the guy that was supposed to take Darnold's game to the next level.

Looking at his stats from last year, Darnold looked like he was on the right path. He started 13 games and was 7-6. Completed 62% of his passes and threw 19 touchdowns and 13 picks. Not great, but definitely solid for a 2nd year guy and an improvement over his rookie season.

This year? He reminds me of what happened to Baker Mayfield under Kitchens. Mayfield had a good rookie season, then along came Kitchens and he regressed. They got him a grownup to coach him and he looks more like the guy they thought they were getting when they drafted him.

Hopefully the Jets will do the same for Darnold or at least trade him before they completely ruin him.

Yeah, the Rams and Steelers seem like very similar teams to me.

Don’t see either winning more than a game in the playoffs.

The Browns could make a run if they stay hot.

Goff is definitely overrated imo. he piles on mistakes if he's ever taken out of his comfort zone...

Yeah same for all us. I don't think I would ever do placed that much money on a bet unless I hit on one of my crazy bets and throw 1K back on a bet but we never played it for any money which was the disappointing part. Even a 50$ bet would have got us good money on that
man that sucks, hope u hit another one. Yeah i could lay 1k down on a lets see what happens if i hit for 500k lol, but not now, man!

Your numbers. Not mine.

Above average “franchise QB”

Many teams don’t have a franchise QB which changes the math quite a bit.

I am done with you.
I am using "your math" as you said maybe 20-25 teams think they have their franchise QB, which means there are 10-12 who are only slightly above avg. franchise QB (not quality as you said he said). It's not semantics, it's not my numbers (they are yours)...it's you arguing with..well....you. and not owning it. as usual.

My brother text me on Saturday. Took a picture of a similar bet with the same amount that the guy put up for the Bills bet which was 1K but this was for the Saints/Chiefs game. The bet was the following:

Latavius Murray anytime TD scorer
Tyreek Hill anytime TD scorer
Taysome Hill anytime TD scorer
Mecole Hardman anytime td scorer
KC spread -2.5
Over 52.5 points

That bet ended up hitting but we never pulled the trigger. 1K would have got the 3 of us a total of $ 437,853.05
ouch.

right

i mean.

i would think that would be obvious right? I mean if you have 32 teams, average is 16- right in the middle. Its a statement that you can actually very easily apply to the numbers.
and he's arguing it as "semantics". Not like I thought he had it in him to just say he was wrong about his friend and his Baker analysis.

if the Browns beat the Jets (which I of course THINK will happen- but by no means is a guarantee), and the Colts beat the Steelers.......then the Browns and Steelers would play for the Division Championship in the last week of the season.

and the really CRAZY think is--- i think there are actual scenarios, where if an 11-4 Browns team loses to the Steelers that week- they have a chance of missing the playoffs entirely.

I swear- if the Browns miss an expanded playoffs with 11 wins it would be the most Browns thing ever.
Have to imagine this will be a topic for many fans here so we might as well discuss.....would you rather the Browns clinch a playoff spot but have no shot at division when we play steelers or have a shot at division with wins BUT also a shot to be left out completely?

I have to say I'd take the former....ideally, though, LV beats Miami and we could be in AND have a chance to win division.

Pretty fucking hilarious that you have the audacity to knock me given your track record.

I guess you need to invent whatever narrative you can to make it look like other people can be wrong too?
pretty fucking hilarious as you say about him you cannot just own you (or your friend) are wrong...even though he was per your OWN analysis.
