The defense has been horrid form game 1. The DC sucked, we won in spite of the defense.....

A good DC will help.....and I did say we need a pass rusher to help out Crosby and help in the secondary. In a football thread, I said that.
Can't say you are wrong as I don't follow the Raiders that closely. However, I hear the same complaints about our DC and @tlance is correct that the players matter. In our case we lost every starter among the DBs. Put most of FA $$ into offense (and that worked).

But earlier in the year, the defense was at least serviceable. You have no idea how good your DC is because the Raiders have given him a bunch of average to below average players (and that may be giving them too much credit).

First thing to do is to get guys who can actually play. Then, if the defense still sucks, you replace the DC.

The Seahawks defense was historically bad. Instead of replacing the DC, they went and got a guy who can actually rush the passer and a guy who can actually cover someone and the defense has been much better.
Pretty sure that's the plan here. Focus THIS offseason I'd bet will be more on D.

Not like it is going to happen but you would trade a combination of Garland, Sexton or Porter Jr and draft picks for James Harden?

@dtgold88 @WiggyRuss
Hmmm....Drummond, Love, Okoro, Harden, Nance and still get to keep one of those guys? I think I'd have to do it. Would at least make things interesting (not close to title worthy though).

first off...if we are being semi-realistic--- Drummond or Love would have to be included.

second off- if we were going to give up a pick it would have to be at LEAST top 8 protected in the next draft.

Porter, Garland, Drummond, and 2 top 8 protected picks?

ehhhhhhh......Harden has, i think, 1 year after this on his deal, and then a 47M dollar player option.....so youd get 3 years of Harden

geez i dunno.

Absolutely, I mean as the main pieces. You would need to dump more salary to Houston but as far as the young core...that would be very very tempting but think about it this way...

would the Cavs be contenders in the next 2 years acquiring Harden? Bc when you acquire a superstar that is the immediate goal.

so going with your trade the squad would look like this.

Sexton, Harden, Okoro, Nance and Love
Exum, Dotson, Osman, Windler, McGee

Uhh not sure, that’s tough

Would Houston even want Drummond or Love?

Maybe Love. They already have Wood and Cousins. Don’t think Drummond fits at all.

Besides, the deal wouldn’t even make sense for Cleveland unless they were able to keep both.

Agree...at best something to discuss but zero chance it would happen. Not sure either team would do it.

Game was ugly today, but they 100% deserve to be there.

You know who doesn’t though?

Notre Dame

Barring a major second half comeback to make this close, they need to be on the outside looking in.

Pretty sure only someone with an anti-OSU agenda would say they do not deserve to be there. I mean, it's a crazy year so I guess you could make a case if you really tried but to say they don't even deserve it? That's absurd. Undefeated, conference champ. Probably beat 2 top 20 CFP teams (assuming NW stays top 20). I mean, should not playing Illinois, MD and UM (2 not of their doing) really keep them out?

and who goes in ahead of them? A team who beat 1 team with a pulse? as for ND, there definitely should be discussion about keeping them out, but then again not sure they should be penalized for facing a top team while TAM got another patsy.

They are getting smoked.

The ACC is top heavy. And the first time they beat Clemson, it was at home, against the back up QB, and they still needed a number of flukey turnover plays to win.

No playoff team should get beat down like this ever. Especially in a championship game.

notre dame aint going

if florida loses they are absolutely off the list.

what texas a&m?

ehhhh...

Ohio State is going.
I could see still taking ND on the basis of not punishing them for having to play another tough team (who they already beat) in CCG when TAM played a patsy. But, yeah, if UF loses seems like it's TAM or ND at 4 (OSU is in...probably no matter what UF does).

As I said I can definitely see that rationale......but they only had to play this game because they took care of business the first time against Clemson (yes, I get home, no Lawrence, etc...though they did break 40 without TL) while TAM benefits from playing a patsy?

as for the OP, not sure how he comes up with OSU not deserving to be there.....he might flip if they change the Covid rules to get Olave in the game

This week.

They still definitely had to play a tougher schedule than Notre Dame.

You do realize being 1-1 vs Clemson isn't a bad thing right?

And before I hear how Trevor Lawrence didn't play in the 1st game, he doesn't play defense....they scored 49 points on the Clemson DEFENSE in the first game. They also beat a UNC team who is a borderline top 10 team. Florida was the only team who had a chance at eliminating ND but losing to LSU did them in.....but the committee play favorites so nothing would surprise me at this point.

Likely playoffs is Bama vs ND and Clemson vs Ohio State

This isn't a one game season. They play a season for a reason. You look at the resume and evaluate from there.

Going 1-1 vs one of the best teams isn't end of the world but whenever Notre Dame is involved, everyone loves to make one game seem like the season

Who you going to put in over Notre Dame? A&M who didn't make their title game and couldn't stay on the field with Bama or a 2 loss Oklahoma team?

Trevor Lawrence play defense now lol? It was against a backup QB that was damn good. That team is a top 10 team with that QB.....maybe top 5. Let's not act like he was some trash QB.

No playoff team should get beat down like this ever? Do you watch CFB? There's literally blowouts like this EVERY YEAR IN THE PLAYOFFS including several times in the title game
