My Grades for NFL Signings in the Last 24 Hours

Alvin Kamara - B grade. Kamara is one of the best receiving backs in the NFL at the moment, and has very little wear on his body. While $15M per is steep for a runningback, he's young, and with Brees likely heading out in 1-2 years it will be a TREMENDOUS help for a young/new QB. I can't give this an A grade as $15M per is not a bargain, but it warrants a higher end grade given Kamara's upside, and the fact that the Saints will likely have a CHEAP QB position for the majority of his contract.

Dalvin Cook - F grade. I rarely give out Fs, but this is just a stupid signing. Dalvin Cook has missed almost 20 games in just 3 years. He's very talented, but outside of last year he couldn't stay healthy (and he STILL missed games last year). The Vikings had a decent draft, but it's not like their window is closing and San Fran, Seattle, New Orleans, Tampa are all better teams on paper at the moment. Again, why the HELL are you giving Dalvin Cook that much money? I know he came about $2.5M cheaper than Kamara, but this was the reason I did NOT want Seattle to sign Clowney long term who had a dubious injury history and took plays off. There was quite a bit of locker dissatisfaction from Minny's offense next year so who knows if Cook will just mail it in, I'm willing to bet he does given the past injury issues.

Cooper Cupp - B- grade. I don't think Cooper Kupp deserves $16M per year, but he's clearly a crutch for Jared Goof (yes we went from Goff back to Goof) and rebounded after his injury. Kupp is not what I'd consider an elite talent, but this is only a 3 year contract and again he's a target that Goof is comfortable with and works fine in McVay's offense. I certainly can't give this an A because it's nowhere near a bargain and the Rams are going to be cap starved again, but I can't go in the C range because it's only 3 years. It would've made more sense for the Rams to spend money on OL help instead of Kupp as Goff is not a good QB under pressure and it showed in 2019.

I agree. All are overpaid imo. You find weapons especially RB’s. Kupp and Cook are injury prone and Kamara is a great player but not worth the top 3 money. In a couple years these numbers might look good but it depends on the player. A RB like Zeke or CM I am up for paying but that is rare.

He had 5 TDs in his last 5 games... the Rams had him block a bit more because the Rams offensive line sucks ass and Seattle/Arizona/Dallas (and to a lesser extent San Fran) who they played 4 times out of the last half of the season were basically the worst tight end defenders in the entire league. Tight ends dominated all 3 of those teams which is why Seattle spent so much to acquire Adams and draft Brooks.

It doesn't work that way. Sea last year was +7 in point differential for the entire year. That isn't an 11 win team...not even close. SF was +179. Don't give me this stupidity about injuries....there were a lot of missed games for Niner player last year. They were CLEARLY better, and it's not even debatable.

Quite a few analysts and sites along with all Vegas odds have Seattle as a better team to start this year, which was what I wrote (on paper, and the Saints/Bucs/49ers/Seahawks are all ON PAPER and by odds, a better team).

Your original post critiquing Seattle and saying they were a mediocre team and got lucky last year and are 'debatable' as to being a worse team than Minnesota is just troll fuel as basically nobody with an IQ over 70 thinks that. I already told you non-box score information penis face. Basically LA went up against 3 teams (AZ TWICE) 4 times in the second half that ranked the WORST against tight ends (literally top 3 worst coverage against tight ends in the NFL - SEA/DAL/ARZ), so ZERO surprise Higbee would be the target those times.

Kupp is a better blocker than Woods, so to your point it made sense to keep him blocking since Jared Goof had a terrible blocking unit last year and is below average against pressure to allow the tight end to run free because the teams LA was going against were atrocious against defending that position. Even then, Kupp still found a way to be productive (hence the TDs).

It's not like I gave it some A+ grade... I really don't know what your point is at this time.

You brought up a great point that Higbee was a staple in the offense and highly utilized in the second half. It's a VERY valid point but Higbee was the best choice. As was Woods who was on par with Kupp but with Kupp being the better blocker and LAs deteriorating and atrocious line last year (which is one reason they ranked so poorly this year) that makes sense they kept him in to block a bit more.

SJ is taking a break from the site. I think the rams were kind of strapped at this price range due to Brandin Cooks getting that much from the Texans. Im just glad he didn't want more because he's pretty much Goff's blanket.
