Pretty tough to trade Mason. You know a change of scenery would do him wonders, but you also know the Jackets won't let a goalie with that skill walk for cheap. Either Howson is going to have to take a lowball offer, or someone is really going to have to go out on a limb and risk it.

I think if Mason gets traded, it will be a "problem child for a problem child" style trade... Mason for Bogosian?

With the right (read: desperate) team, it doesn't have to be problem for problem. He's a good goalie who can rebound with a good goalie coach. This yahoo in C-bus has wrecked the kid. Kinda why I was am kind of still am hoping for a coaching change. Take all the ass-istants with him.

If they do send him anywhere, they need to get a serviceable goalie back at least. So that leaves TB out.

True, but the trade market for a goalie hasn't been all that great in recent years. A guy with potential who has struggled in his development probably isn't going to rake in that big of a return. Then again if a team like Tampa thinks that the only thing standing in the way of them and the playoffs or a Cup is Steve Mason, they could sell the farm.
