As said above, just like 40 years ago, there's a few gems around. The music they play on the sixties stations is THE BEST MUSIC FROM THE WHOLE DECADE. This decade, on the other hand is less than two years old, so you can't exactly bitch about it. (Technically it's less than one year old but last I checked it's not called "I love the 80s plus 1990," so music wise it's the former).

And bitching that the music today doesn't compare to the Beatles is setting the bar a LITTLE high, if you ask me.

Technology covers you too much nowadays. Most artists can not replicate their sound live. They are not true "artists" in my mind if they can not play live what they play on record. Eve though I am a metalhead, some of my favorite music comes from the fifties and sixties. The melody in fifties music was amazing, and the sixties were just so damn creative. Most bands sound the same nowadays without trying to differ themselves.

Got the swing station going on Pandora today. This is real music. If this is something you dont mind listening to but not on a regular basis, I highly suggest going out to catch one of the bigger acts, its such a good time. I saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at Mohegan Sun, had a friggin blast.

Yea and what we here today is the "best" of what this generation has to offer. It's sad when the talent goes undiscovered by most while the rich and/or good looking become famous for doing a quarter of the work real artists put into their craft.

You have to keep in mind a lot of teenagers have really bad taste in music. I know I did. A lot of those facts seem to be driven because they have more time on their hands to waste their money on shitty music.

There is still good music out there. You just have to dig a little. Not to mention in the end it comes down to personal taste.
