I'm guessing so .. because those two schools have already shown that they love god, country and college football. Total respect for Iowa & Nebraska after this move.

If you play twice in one season, that might turn into an eligibility issue down the road??

Who cares as long as they play football. As I see it now, god loves corn.

Any word if they are going to fill out the Class A schedules? I heard the Bellevue West FB coach said he wasn't adding a single game - that pussy.

I haven't heard.

OPS is only 7 Class A schools out of 30.

Most of the other 23 schools probably play 2 OPS schools each. So their schedules won't be impacted egregiously.

Lincoln Southeast and Papio-LaVista South would be impacted most having 3 OPS schools in their division.

To me, the question is, what can the conference do if the team schedules games against other teams?

Patience. We're about to find out.

UNL is a fishbowl. Frost and Moos will not be let off the hook without an explanation on it one way or another.

The athletic department will be hounded about it daily.

Its a complicated issue that I dont think a lot of people understand, they really cant just do that. They can TRY to pull out of the conference, but its not a battle they are going to win without losing a shit ton of money. Basically its likely all talk.

As much as id love Ohio State to tell the big 10 to get fucked and play whoever they can get this season......its really unlikely.

Claim a breach of contract, seek damages from Nebraska.

Ultimately, Nebraska would end up out of the richest league, and $100 million poorer for it for the exit fee.

They claim they can throw you out of the conference. Legally, I don't think so. If Ohio State did it, the Big 10 wouldn't dare kick out their marquee program.

They wouldn't kick Ohio State out.

But couldn't they just claim they are playing 10 OOC games since the B10 canceled all their conference games?

The problem I see for the B10 is optics here:

1) sue a school that is trying to get it's players some publicity for the NFL (what college does best).

2) or let the players choose for themselves if they play in the fall by asking the NCAA to allow them to transfer with immediate eligibility.

I say the best thing the B10 can do is let Nebraska play in the fall, but tell them they get no money if the conference plays in the spring.

I would love to see them challenge the conference, then get smacked in the courtroom and to set an example, either force them out while still taxing them, or letting them stay and keep them as the whipping boy.

It's interesting, but I don't think the B10 would want that image...especially if they don't end up playing in the spring. They would have told a university that they cannot have the $50 million a year they were promised in the tv right deal, but they cannot do anything to make up that loss.

On top of that, they cannot allow their players to play football in the fall, and the conference will not try and make accommodations for those players to go play elsewhere this fall.

The bottom line, from my perspective, if they go sue Nebraska for trying to play football outside the conference this fall, they would look TERRIBLE. It would hurt future recruiting, and would set a bad precedent. Again, just my two cents.

yeah i see that but.. I doubt Nebraska is as wanted as posters and twitter accounts feel they are. If this was ND, I could be persuaded in seeing something like this happen where a conference would move heaven and earth to include them in their schedule. But Nebraska? Not even a competitive Nebraska at that..

It's true that Nebraska is definitely not the Nebraska that the B12 had back in the day. I still think that it would make a great story, and people would much rather watch Nebraska play Texas and Oklahoma then watch them play a crappy OOC team or teams like Kansas, Iowa St, Baylor, etc. I imagine ratings for Nebraska games in the B12 would be better than 2/3's of the B12 games would normally get.

Although after Nebraska has a couple of losses, people would probably just tune them out.
