The first round draft picks aren't going to do shit except work out.

I'm talking about the guy who is a 4th or 5th round pick, but wants to try and improve to a 3rd or 2nd round pick. It could mean a lot of money to these guys when they get out of college.

Pro's: A lot of teams in the Big12/SEC/ACC can get some good talent.

Con's: Maybe not enough time to learn a system and get familiar with coaches.

And do you think that Schools in the PAC and the B1G would just let these guys transfer; The Schools and the Conference are the ones that shut football down, not that player, so there is some thought that says they can't stop it.

Unless everyone shuts down, then it's WTF.

Doubt it's as many as you might think. It's pretty late to go transferring at this point, and it's still no certainty anyone is playing this fall. They'd just as likely find themselves buried or performing poorly.

On the flipside, I'm curious to know how they'd handle it if players wanted to transfer from a team that played in the Fall to a team that would ostensibly play in the Spring. Still think everyone winds up calling it quits.

I'd assume you meant transfer to be eligible next fall.

Seems to me college football players actually enjoy playing in college and that's part of the reason they actually stay. Unless you get high round $, NFL is a meat grinder. It seems like a real cut-throat job.

Unlike NBA ... all day party with weed and hookers and show up to practice half hour late... so college players leaving even if they don't sniff the draft.

It would be pretty risky, I think.

Transferring to a school that ends up cancelling the season will be somewhat a waste. If there isn't a season, and you're a random junior/senior, chances you get passed on the depth chart next season?

Scholarship limits? Rosters have pretty much been set by now

Problem is if, and it’s a big if. Players shouldn’t be allowed to use football facilities en mass if conferences cancel the season because of “health concerns”

Pretty much the only way the XFL will succeed. Cap college football at the knees or have the NFL pitch in money.

If there's spring football than the players won't have to worry about transferring

PAC 12 already said players will be allowed to use the facilities

I don't see it happening. If the season gets cancelled (no spring), the NCAA will probably grant everyone another year of eligibility. And as you said, rosters are set and the other conferences aren't likely to play. I think the only players who transfer are the ones who were going to transfer regardless.

An interesting question to me is if early enrollees from the 2021 class could see the field for Spring football.

Not happening. The season’s getting cancelled so it won’t matter anyway.

I saw that, that goes back to unity movement more than safety. The conferences are using incomplete data to cancel the season...but this will be a fun experiment with all the college athletes that say they want money because they have to fend for themselves instead of all the free workout equipment, clothes, bags, shoes, free food etc.

It is just bs because the conference is just kicking the can down the road, the player’s elementary level of organizing will still be there along with Covid. From Twitter it appears 95 % of players want to play. 5% want to unionize then learn that they will get a letter of back taxes they owe the local and federal taxes. They keep harping on P5 doing x, y and Z which they cannot get unless all of the conferences come together which will happen. Big Sky players already said if players go with there idiotic United movement and if a scholarship open up they will take it. Plus, if they used half their bran and get out of their echo chamber. Fans, tv contracts and advertisers always look at the name of the front of jersey no matter how much they think they are worth.

I know, but by our regulations you can’t have more than 10 in at a time. How much of a workout can you get with only 10 people in there and spread with only guys. Even the most talented guys need real reps, not doing a what would be season practicing for the Underwear Olympics which is prepping for the NFL draft. This is shit that drives Seahawks fans crazy. Their first pick is always a project because he has about 2 minutes of outstanding tape then the rest is mid round material. They well in the later rounds because it primarily based off of film. Players develop massively from sophomores to juniors and to seniors etc. Had Covid hit last year there is a zero chance Joe Burrow would have been the number 1 selection.

I agree with ya, and I’m pulling for the XFL. College football is not amateur football and there is no way to go back to a “student athlete” People get rich off college football and it’s not necessarily the players. There is enough talent out there to have a really good football league
