I hate you for taking the Pens lightly. You have no idea.

And I read Higgy's post as Flyers only play the Bruins once, not like the play eachother once in their respective city. If this is the case, the Flyers play everyone in their conference 9.6 times. How will they decide who plays us the most?

Also, on the taking the Pens lightly, I'm never sold on my team until the Cup is in their hands...ever...and this conference could be the most brutal in the league. Could be because some of the younger teams out West could change my mind on that. But a collective 18 games against Philly/Washington/NYR is really harsh. Throw in the Devils who always trap the life out of the Pens, and yikes.

Wouldn't the Board of Governors need to approve any plan? It's not just Gary behind all this.

Yeah, but the proposed plan was done by him I'm fairly certain. That said, it got overwhelming support. Only 4 dissenters out of 30. Considering what was heard all week, that's shocking.

I guess it is since youre a fan of them. Always going into games against you guys I feel like we'll lose, and I feel the need to paly much more D and protect the lead against the Pens. Maybe it is just the urge to beat you, but having your core doesnt hurt.

From @DarrenDreger, 3rd rd format to be decided. Two Eastern and two Western conferences could be paired, but re-seeding is also possible.

Haha, trust me...I basically go into every game thinking the same exact things. It just stems from the passionate desire to beat you. :)

It also has to be approved by the NHLPA.

dantencer Oilers President & CEO Patrick LaForge says there could be one more year of Winnipeg in the SE before the new format takes place.

i'm still absorbing.. i cant decide if i like this or hate it.. bright side, flyers got all their rivalries in their division (i refuse to call it a conference).. down side, only 1 of them gets to the final 4.. bright side, flyers will play someone i HATE in the playoffs, twice if they win the first round.. downside, i hate unbalanced divisions.. bright side, the flyers are in a 7 team division..

if i had a vote, i would definitely vote against re-seeding.. i really dont like the chances of any team in the bEAST getting home-ice in the final four

actually eff it, who cares about home ice, have the final four at some randomly selected city like march madness.. i'd spend 2 weeks going ape shit over hockey games in indianapolis or houston.. or some canadian city, damn that would be intense (i know, probably not a valid platform, but it was a ridiculous idea turned in to, actually that might be kinda cool, haha)

this old playoff scenario comes into play again:

1987: Leafs made playoffs with 52 points, while Rangers missed with 82.

@RooseBill The Bill Roose
I'm told conference names will be Pacific, Central, Northeast, and Atlantic. #RedWings will be in the Central Conference. @DetroitRedWings

Didn't the Minnesota North Stars make the playoffs in '91 with an obscenely low number of points only to make it to the Stanley Cup finals?

The name thing is a disappointment. Seriously, break out some legends names. Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Howe. Boom. It even works out. Pacific-Gretzky for the Oilers/Kings; Atlantic-Lemieux for Pens; Central-Howe for Wings; Northeast-Orr for B's.
