Fact is that some players in the NFL are going to get COVID whether football is played or if the season is canceled. It's going to happen no matter what. As long as they are testing enough to try and catch and contain as it happens I think the season happens.

You're absolutely correct. Some will get it regardless.......

But like baseballl, all those guys, close together........its gonna spread........basketball is in a controlled environment. Football will be worse than baseball IMHO, more guys and a closer space.....

I don't think the Marlins get it is evidence that they spread it amongst themselves. They come from the hotspot epicenter city in the country right now. They probably got it amongst their normal lives in that city.

Then those that get it go to the 3 week mini IR and other players step in and you keep playing.

The only thing the NFL needs to do is get rid of the TNF game this season and maybe consider getting rid of MNF as well. Give yourself a week before each game to identify any new positive tests.

The fact is, we just dont know enough about Rona' still. We don't know about immunity, we don't totally understand transmission. Heck we still don't totally understand how it attacks the body, as we now are finding it has largely inflammatory markers.

BUT all other sports have far less players, coaches, etc on the field and such at all times........just players you you have 100+ on a field at a time. Plus, coaches, staff, medical, tv etc etc..... WAY WAY WAY more people in tighter areas than any other sport. Hockey has them crammed on benches too, but still less players........Plus same thing with practices and meetings. A whole group can get hit.........Wasnt it the braves who were down multiple catches to start the season........

I hope it works out, but to suggest this is "simple" , and "no big deal", etc is false. Its also false to suggest immunity.

Yeah because it was the offseason when they were all out wherever in the country living their lives. They have all reported to the Novacare Complex for training camp 1 week ago (2 weeks ago for rookies). Until they all finally practice together it seems the team is keeping certain groups entirely separated from others.

The season will happen and it is going to be a wild off the rails one for the ages with huge swings for teams around the league due to positive tests for certian players.

I just hope we get some cold outdoor teams to host some playoff games. It'd be a sight to see a playoff game in a heavy snow storm or high wind sub 0 temperatures with no fans in the stadium. Just two teams under the lights of say Lambeau in the harshest of environments fighting for the chance to advance in the middle of this global pandemic. It would be some poetic imagery if NFL films of old still existed.
