Hard to talk college ball when this stupid virus is still looming over preventing either a full season, or any games at all.

However, given no spring ball I'm not sure anyone can really predict what any team will look like. Even if we had a full season it won't be a 'normal' season. Really hard to say how different teams will respond to the changes inevitable for any chance of a full season.

Last I heard, USC was planning on playing Bama in Jerrah World and allowing 50% capacity at home games.

It'll suck if the rest of you sissies have to forfeit 'cause you skeered. :D

I heard that the first round of testing came back as all negatives for the whole team, but every day you see more and more teams reporting players showing up positive. I'm just not convinced that these kids can maintain the isolation needed to prevent outbreaks.

Well that and Scott is a stupid ass fuck face idiot that isn't likely to make good decisions for the conference and might cancel the whole thing if even one team is struggling with it in August.

23 Clemson players test positive. Yikes. With teams wanting to start workouts early it just feels like shit isn't going to work out how we all want it to.

I've put up with a lot of total bullshit since March, but my line that is too far to cross is when it takes away my college football.

Iowa State is doing the 50% capacity at home games too, but they are not opening with 'Bama! :D

I think the staffs knew that players were going to be testing positive. From Snap and IG posts.. States like Texas, Florida, GA, SC, etc seemed like they thought the Virus was over once the reopen phases began and Texas/FL went head first. Then you combine the protests on both sides.. this was inevitable. Now is the time that will be crucial. What guidelines do the schools have to ensure that all of the players now checked in, stay negative (once quarantined)?

Feels right now that the PAC has it's leg up compared to the rest of the conferences.

I'm pretty sure you can count my predictions just as on the money as the have always been. lol

I think it's a matter of keeping the players "sequestered" so to speak, in the athletic facilities. Right now, it shouldn't be too difficult. However, from what I've seen and heard, most universities are expecting to have students back on campus when the semester starts. Wondering what happens then.

The PAC as a whole seems to be doing okay with it so far. Although, apparently there are a bunch of UCLA players who don't trust UCLA and Coach Kelly to keep them safe from Covid and protect their scholarships. So they are talking about not returning until their demands are met.

It'll be interesting to see if that's just UCLA (they wear powder fucking blue ffs) or if we see other teams start to have players say the same kinds of things.

Another PAC related commit coming this evening is DE Maurice Heims, Santa Margarita HS, CA.

He said he'll be announcing around 7PM this evening. His final choices are ASU, Colorado, Illinois, Penn St., and Was

I'm also thinking that it's probably a little worse than what some schools in the south are saying. I feel that they are trying to keep the numbers low to not panic anyone about the upcoming fall.

Chip.. man he has to be on his last try at UCLA, no? I'm 40 and remember UCLA being pretty good throughout the 80's and 90's.. what happened?

My guess is Chip gets to start the 2021 season. Revenues will be down and I’m not sure UCLA will have the money to buy out his contract. In normal times, I’d guess that 2020 would be Chips last year (unless they start winning)

The problem for UCLA re: Chip is that they are a public university, so they can't just get rid of a coach because they have to have coaches salaries, buyouts, etc. approved by folks outside the university.

It's why coaches who aren't very good end up being there longer than they should. So often times they are left with no choice but to wait until the end of the coaches contract before they can get rid of him...then, when he's gone, they're limited as to what they can spend on the replacement coach. So it's hard to find anyone better.

Compare that to USC being a private university and having the ability fire Helton right now if they wanted and wouldn't need outside approval for his buyout or for what they can spend on a new coach.

It might be a little tougher with revenues down, but if they can find a donor to foot at least part of the bill, they can do what they want without a need for getting permission from outside of the university.

That's sad man.. UCLA is a solid school in academics and is also in LA. They should be able to hire and fire coaches when appropriate like Texas, FSU, LSU or any other state school can. I bet they are open to some conference realignment if it led to bigger money

That's the part that has me concerned about an actual full season happening. You can probably prevent spread now, but once the rest of the kids return to campus?

Pro football is different in that respect, and more likely to be able to find a path forward to a full season. Even then it's not a given it will happen, but they do have more control over that level.

The new AD is a fundraising machine so I think he will change things at UCLA but this is a tough time to take over and change things like that

Yeah, in states where football is king, the folks who have final approval are going to be willing to put more money into a state universities coaching situation. It's why, last I heard, Saban is the highest paid state employee in Alabama.

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering about. Hopefully, they will have some kind of measures in place the ability to make changes on the fly if what they are doing doesn't seem to be working.

I think most players tend to stay in the athletic facility anyway, maybe it'll be a matter of them staying there even more. Maybe have the athletes take their classes online, via Zoom, etc.

It'll be interesting to see what schools come up with in that regard.
