barber can go on the PS this year.

Then send him. I figured he’d played too much for that. Wouldn’t mind to have him to fall back on.

Gibson had more touches asa WR in college . He showed explosion as a RB . What else do you need in a 3rd down back ?

Because we are rebuilding and this will take some time. Hopefully all of our young guns will be good in time but several people on this board, including you, are expecting too much too soon.
For real , way too much too soon

220 pound 3rd down back? He will be in on 3rd down or made carries on 1st and 2nd.

The defense can be special. Sure the offense is probably going to be average but I don't think we are as bad as people think. We have the best defense in the division by far, hat should mean something.

Plus if we are rebuilding like you say why keep an aged RB when we have younger options?

I don't know how old you are but I do know you've got a lot to learn about the NFL. If you want to PM me I will give you even better odds than Caesar's will give you on your belief that the Redskins will win the NFC East.

Guys, it just makes absolutely zero sense to have the oldest RB in the NFL on a rebuilding team for another year. It was so successful last year that we had the worst offense in the NFL. And stylistically it doesn't work, because he's not at all effective in the passing game - never has been - and that certainly doesn't help the development of a much needed passing game.

With all due respect, I disagree. Which unproven RB to you want to give the ball to on 3rd and 1?

I've already talked about the intangibles on why AP is needed on this young team.

I love the potential of our young RBs but all of them can learn so much from a veteran like AP. Since AP has been with us he has arguably been our best player and his conditioning and work ethics has been second to none. He has stayed injury free for the most part and as you said, he has not shown any decline in his ability to this point. I can see this possibly being his last year with us but I can't see him not making the roster this year.

What can a RB learn from AP? He isn’t known for catching, blocking, and these guys have been running for their literal lives. You don’t learn about conditioning and work ethic from other players. You either workout and be conditioned, especially with training staff, or you are not. As for work ethic, you either have it or you don’t. RBs don’t really need to study film any differently than college except to block.

Experience and locker room presence from a guy who has been there before.

AP has never been a great locker room guy. He hasn’t been bad but there is nothing he brings that isn’t brought by every veteran RB in the game.

Because we're not ready to obtain that title yet.

You never know. You have to think positive. The only thing I fear in this division is Dallas' offense. The other teams and Dallas' defense are average at best. That is why I'm so optimistic. In the NFL there are always worst to first teams, it happens almost every year. If not worst to first, non playoff to playoff team. Now with the extra playoff spot we should all be excited b/c the jump up doesn't have to be that significant.

I am indeed optimistic about the future of our team with the coaching and young players we have obtained but I'm also a realist. Because of current conditions our young players are at an extreme disadvantage vs. more veteran players on other teams when it comes to putting together a winning team concept quickly. RR has already pointed this out in several interviews. Yes, we have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball but it is young talent that will take some time to develop.

the thing is , and i addressed this in a new thread , is so what if we win the division title ? are we going to be a perennial contender or will sink back to below avg the following year ?

all too often the past 20 years this is what happens

I read your new thread thoroughly and all I've got to say is you must have a lot of time on your hands to spit out all of those statistics. You nailed it in your new thread because an NFC East title means very little if you revert back to your old ways the next year without advancing in the playoffs. On the bright side, if we take baby steps and double our wins from last year, which might be a stretch, and continue to rebuild, I do think that we can become perennial winners in time. To me the time factor is unknown at this point because we have a lot of young players who are way behind in team practices at the NFL level because of the circumstances our entire nation is dealing with.
