so the dodgers won in 1981 with a 110 game schedule.
this will be 82.
and i know lots of folks call that 81 title "hollow".
The 1994 title was even more hollow.

The NBA had many things going for it over that span that MLB will never have.I guess it will take some more time for the players union to get it, but until the game starts leaking oil...we really can't expect the players to make that concession to a capped league...they will need to see the red ink.
You mentioned the NBA...sometimes you have to reinvent yourself. This is a league that 30-35 yrs ago the NBA FINALS was on tape delay....Lakers/Sixers now they get primetime slots for Finals games.

Agree to a point but baseball also refuses to reinvent or look at its structure. Firstly it's a very regional game. Well you lose half your audience before the season even starts because of a lack of a cap, but more importantly a lack of a minimum cap.
Im a big Tigers fan but I'm not watching that trash right now. Baseball is on every day so if you just follow your team that's a big audience. It's not like the NBA with days off regularly that requires a more national audience
me too...Kinda doubt this will even happen.

boo fucking hoo it would suck to live off 3 mil this year
Agreed, I like the cap AND floor idea so the players at least know there won't be 5-6 teams trying to field teams under $60 mil every year.
Still, the MLBPA won't ever budge because that helps the mid level players at the expense of the megastar contracts.
Fuck him, this shows how out of touch these guys are. How many other people are taking the chance just to put food on the table.
I feel like the players union is going to cock block this shit.Kinda doubt this will even happen.
Conversely, and with all due respect, health experts do not and should not run our country. That’s nice but it still depends on what happens between now and then. And with all due respect, MLB owners are not health experts. They’re mostly greedy old bastards.

Typically, I'm on the player union's side, but I just feel like they're going to fuck this one up.
MLB should be going after this like it's their fucking life on the line.i think it will. the president is pushing for it harder than a first pussy grab attempt.

To jump in and provide real, live sports to America when it's starved for such content could do wonders to bringing new fans to the game.
I think MLB and their teams' marketing arms have already missed some big opportunities. The local AA club, the Akron Rubber Ducks, held a virtual opening day. They had some interviews, and DeWine threw out the first pitch. Sounds cheesy, and to some extent it was, but I tuned in and watched it with my kids over hot dogs and peanuts. I cannot believe MLB and their teams aren't doing some things like this. It obviously wouldn't appeal to everyone, but it certainly would keep some fans engaged.
The DH is for retards.I am a traditionalist and don’t like changes to the core of the game. But I will agree to next to anything to get baseball going this year. One-off divisions? Sure. Shortened season? No prob. Expanded playoffs? Absolutely.
those all make sense in the chaos that is 2020.
but why institute a universal DH? Does that help prevent spread the disease? Does it reduce the amount of travel teams have to do?
It isn’t a deal breaker for me in a one-off season. I just don’t understand the logic of it, outside of intentionally stepping onto the slippery slope.
Lolz.The DH is for retards.
