you can probably come up with more.
Ross Baumgarten - his 2nd year he went 13-8 followed that with 2-12 and was out of baseball 2 years later.
Gordon Beckham – great promise never realized.
Bart Johnson – great promise turned to shit; was 20-4 .189 in 1969 the year before they brought him up. In 8 years had two winning seasons.
Carlos Rodon – 3rd overall pick. yes he's good when he's on but he's 29-31 in 5 years.
Jared Mitchell – 23rd overall pick never got 1 major league ab.
Joe Borchard – 12th overall pick was expected to be a monster and instead was a total dud.
Kurt Brown – 1985 5th overall pick never made the majors.
Ted Nicholson – 1969 3rd overall pick never made the majors.
interesting side note. frank thomas was only selected for the all star game 5 times! not even selected in 2000 when he won the silver slugger and was 2nd in mvp voting.
