Well, I wouldn't say 100%. There are some legit arguments to OV not being a good captain. But no captain is perfect, not even the proncess in Pittsburgh.

edit: but overall, this was a good move. I liked BB, but something just wasn't working down there in Washington.

You sorta feel for the guy (BB that is), but I fully believe that every coach has an expiration date with the same group of guys. Hunter will be an interesting move behind the bench, don't really know much about his coaching career. Fans will like it, but will the players? That's up to the team.

Also, not 100% sure removing the C from Ovechkin would do anything...but I do think that Laich is the leader on that team. That said, just because one guy is more vocal doesn't mean he's the captain, just that he's the vocal leader. OV works his butt off most nights, and that deserves the C. Can't say he works it off every night...because I just don't watch every Caps game. The only critique I have on him is that he's capable of more, just has to be a bit more well rounded. This mini-fall from grace isn't fun to watch.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ovechkin goes on a tear. First thing Dale should do is loosen the reigns a bit.

i don't think a new coach can come in and take a captaincy away so soon. would start off on a very negative note.

i will say i was surprised when ov got the C. i always thought it would go to laich.

there are about 4 NHL head coach jobs Boudreau could have tomorrow. maurice and sacco especially must be on thin ice.
