The only IVY school that showed interest was Brown. The OC was a really nice guy and we looked into it but couldn't go down there because of the knee injury. We were honest and they backed off.

Based on the schools showing interest and his pursuit of good grades his consideration needs to be the highest quality school be it D-I D-II or D-III that can give him the best education for his future. Very little chance the kid makes it to the NFL, don't take that the wrong way it's just about the numbers. So he needs to pursuit his education that is where his future lies, if he can get to a decent school that will give him that education and all he has to do is play football so go there. If it's Slippery Rock, Alabama A&T etc matters not. Get the free education

A business major would get a job in Sports Management but a Sports Management major will likely end up picking up tape or checking out lockers.....

I've known 4 kids who studied hard for 4 years to get a 4 year psychology degree.

They generally spend the next 6 months selling iphones for AT&T.

Then the next year selling iphones for Verizon, or answering phones at the local chiropractor's office.

As someone said, 4 out of 5 is pretty good. We are really looking forward to hearing from one school that has had interest since he played on the championship team of the NE Elite Camp. 1200 HS Seniors and Juniors and he caught both TDs and a 2 point conversion in the Championship game that they won 14-7.

This school's head coach called him out after the game and said that he'd be in touch. It's Div. II but it's a step below IVY and they do 100% Financial Aid if the student qualifies. No way I can afford the cost of sending him there. $82,000 a year is a bit out my reach. I will not let him take out huge loans and be $100K in debt when he graduates.

We're still waiting to hear from the final 8.

I'll keep you abreast as the mail arrives each day.

I don't understand how UNH would turn him down, at least relative to the other institutions wanting him. Good grades and solid additional responsibilities (whether sports, the debating team or yearbook committee) usually creates a desirable candidate.

I work with youth on a regular basis and try to steer them away from any college that is going to send them into huge debt. 20 years ago when student loan interest was nothing it wasn't as big of a deal but since the government fully took over student loans yeah that interest is ridiculous. And honestly most jobs don't care a whole lot where you got your education from. All they care about is seeing the degree in hand. I have yet to have a job comment on where my degree came from other than one where they were acting in an illegal manner (police job of course).

As for the school he picks yeah I would pay attention to the finances and then a little to the degree program. Last I heard students switched majors around 50-70% of the time from when they first enter college. Really to me college comes down to three things...Finances, finding a degree program that can cover lots of areas (such as a degree in business can lead to a lot of areas), and then finishing college. You do those things and good chance you will find work, make a good living, and function well in society.

I don't understand it either. I honestly think the school is screwing with in-state kids. The State is really pissed about several things that have gone on at the school and some serious financial things that no one is 100% knowledgeable about. The state of NH is forcing a big layoff that includes tenured professors and of course the college is in panic mode. I'm sure that after graduation everything will come out and the media will have a field day. By that time we'll be locked in somewhere else. Hopefully UMaine and he can play a part in beating UNH four years running.

You have a point, out of state students are more profitable.

Final Update::::::::::

After visiting with five schools, he's made his decision.

He rejected Div. I UMaine and several Div. II schools. He met with the HC and OC of Plymouth State University and they told him if he chooses Plymouth he's on the team, no question. No one on the team has a position. Every position will be a competition and this HC has operated that way for 22 years. He's made the Div.III NCAA playoffs 11 times and has won the Div.III Championship three times. So Plymouth it is and it's 65 miles north of Manchester, so we'll be able to attend all of the home games and a lot of the road games.

Starting this Monday (March 2) the twenty trucks with heavy equipment will unload and start tearing up the entire outdoor complex and stadium. The football team will check in on campus on Aug.13 and the practice field will be ready and the stadium will be ready for the opening game Sept. 5.

The field right now is natural grass and will be replaced by the latest turf surface. The school is spending $10M on the upgrade of Football, baseball, soccer, field hockey and track and field. I just hope the stands have seats and not aluminum benches.

The school has a great Business School and he's been accepted into it. Who knows, if he has a good year, maybe Alabama will ask him to transfer...................8^)

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the input and ideas and experiences for my friends on the Hoop.

GO Panthers!!!!!

I thought reporters learned basic math in college?

"Cowboys wide receiver Ventell Bryant was arrested on a DUI charge in Tampa, Florida on Wednesday, per Greg Auman of The Athletic. In the wideout's arrest report, the arresting officer notes that Bryant admitted to having a number of drinks before getting behind the wheel and tested at a blood-alcohol level of .102 and .099 on a breathalyzer (more than 10 times the legal limit of .08). Bryant made Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of Temple and emerged as a key contributor on special teams in his rookie season."

10 times the legal limit of .08 would be .8 for those of you who went to public schools.....

.4 will cause death

Must’ve been written by the same person who said Bloomberg could’ve given every citizen a million bucks instead of buying campaign ads.

I finished my fourth novel Tuesday night.
83 Chapters

My wife is editing it.
I may have mocked your book writing in another thread, but this hardly belongs in the stupid news thread.

Regardless of whether I would like your writing or not, congratulations on what many would consider a bucket list accomplishment that almost never gets accomplished. I have no desire to write a book, but I admire those who do, and then put the effort in to do it.

Well done BK:clap:

Hell I don't even want to read a book yet alone write one.

Well unless it's Hustler or Penthouse which I buy just for the articles.

Thanks guys. I do appreciate it.

Weird thing. I wrote my first book in 69 days and finished the sequel in the following four months. Writing part time here and there. I stopped for about three or four months and wrote my third one over three months. This last one I started in my head back around Thanksgiving and started after the new year. I would write for two to six hours non stop. My wife would joke and ask me when the New War & Peace would be done.

Everyone thinks that they have the best idea. This book took a lot more effort to keep from writing War & peace than it did to create it. 83 Chapters. 387 pages. 117,000 words. I honestly think I could have easily gotten to 100 Chapters and near 500 pages.

I'll announce the name after I register it. I seriously don't want anyone to steal it.

Again, thanks. I think this one will be in the $23-$25 range for a paperback. It'll be $9.99 for the eBook. Of course, there will be freebies for friends (I don't have many) and admirers (Hope to have many).

Congrats Ken.
I'm going to write a book also. I'll wait until I retire (soon)
It will be called "Why am I Alive" (unless I wait too long)
I have been exposed to every hazard known to man. I'll give you guys a chance to read. It will not be boring.....
