I would have had my focus on Kobe, instead of the focus on myself like LeBron did.

Who is it for LeBron to say "I will continue your legacy"......"I got US"......."It's my responsibility"

No- LeBron- it isn't your responsibility.

Kobe's legacy is his own.

It was a tone deaf post that came from the same ego-centric place that LeBron always operates.

Kobe has his own legacy. It has nothing to do with LeBron.

As much as I love to hate on LeBron at this stage of his career, I honestly hadn't thought of it this way.

All good points.

I understand your point and you are entitled to your opinion.

There are pro, and anti , Kobe death threats all over this board.

We don't go into the anti, rapist threads and tell them how they should feel or how much coverage is overkill.

Plus, sports fandom isn't always based on logic.

Big part of it is emotional. So, it's kinda shitty to poke fun at people who feel a sense of loss, even if we didn't actually know the guy.

I remember being sick to my fucking stomach when Robin Williams died.

His shows, movies were a big part of some of the happy memories of my childhood.

BOOM.

Didn't know him. Still felt his loss.

Recorded the memorial and watched it when I got home. The feed cut out (ESPN) during Shaq's part. Is there a post anywhere online of his full speech or was that some onsite problem at Staples?

The memorial was outstanding. Everyone did a tremendous job.

Vanessa Bryant is the GOAT. I have rarely seen someone display so much strength and poise. There's no way I could get up in front of the world and eulogize people I loved like that just a couple of weeks after they were tragically killed. Amazing.

We all knew Kobe the basketball player. Listening to all the speeches today, we got to see Kobe the man. It was bittersweet but its nice to see a fuller picture of him to go along with those basketball memories.

I gotta say, I've learned 100x more about Kobe this past month than I ever knew about the man. He really was a force, and his future was abnormally bright. We all lose seeing what the guy would have done the next 20-25 years...

He's not a god or an angel, but that's an exciting force we all lost.

No doubt Kobe had some issues during his career. But he managed to really turn all of that around and looks to have become an even better person than he was a basketball player.

I'm sure this will rub many people the wrong way but I, for one, I am already sick of this. People are acting like Kobe was a god and all of this is being way over hyped. Was he really that great of a human being that we are going to spend weeks talking about him?

ok..........I didnt want to be the first to post that, but yeah, youre right.....

Heres my thoughts:

Kobe was a legacy and I get it...........And its great the Lakers are doing something nice for their family and it was a devastating tragedy what happened........it was shocking.
But you know, they are not the only family in this world that has had this type of tragic accident happen.........
You hear about it all the time and they dont have their names and faces plastered everywhere on the internet, television and everywhere else you look........

I feel bad for the Bryant family and all,but you know what, they are gonna have to get over it just like every one of us here that would have a tragic situation like that happen.........

Time for them to move on and quit making a media circus out of this..........

Not gonna happen especially now that Kobe's wife is suing the helicopter company involved for negligence.

Various athletes have been a part of my families fun (watching, cheering) as a Seattle fan for a # of years. If they died in a tragic accident tomorrow I'd say, "That's too bad. My condolences to the family" and drop it... not go on about it for weeks on end.

Long distance relative? Really? I can't tell if you're being serious. If he was ACTUALLY a relative of yours then so be it, I definitely understand your pain... but I'm assuming likely not, he was just some guy that played good basketball, and was retired. If it had been some random guy on Kobe's team during that Championship era would you have the same reaction? Regardless, that's not my point anyway...

My point is: Look I have sympathy for anyone that passes (especially when young,
if you're much older (70+) it's your time.. time to check out, can't live forever).... but the media making this big of a fucking deal out of it, give me a break. It was a tragic accident, he died.. so be it. Let's move on? We've had 2 weeks of non-stop media reports on this crap.. good lord. You'd think there was an accusation that the Russians hacked the helicopter at this point.

This.....my sentiments exactly........Its almost like JFK got shot all over again..........

Same with me, I have been following Kobe since 1996 and I learned more the past month than I have the prior 20+ years. He was an arrogant kid and he seemed to mature over the years.

Maybe Kobe didn’t have enough money...... she needs more.

Yeah I don't think it's a good look. If they were regular people I could see the point, but they don't need the money. It's not like the helicopter company was trying to screw up, and I'm sure they are being punished enough as the company who killed Kobe. It's a big world and sometimes bad things happen. This society is too litigious.

Exactly. Why sue anyone if you don't need the money? It was tragic for everyone including who you are suing
