if we trade to move up i would rather see them trade a player and say a 2021 1st than trade our 2020 1st. Maybe KJ and a 2021 1st for a 1st. in say the 15-19 range?

those teams would be 15 Jets, 16 Browns, 17 Dallas, 18 Dolphins, 19 Raiders.

only team i could see out of those that would even think about it would be the Jets and Dolphins and thats a big who knows with the Dolphins.

I also feel like if the hawks made that offer to any of those teams they would come back with give us Wagner lol

I don't think Wagner but I could see them asking for another draft pick even with KJ as part of the deal.

you don't think those teams would make a counter offer but replace KJ with Wagner? lol i think they wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't.

It really makes you think though, what if a team offered the Hawks a 1st say around 10-15 and a 3rd for our first and Wagner? i would have to say no. But if they said for a 2021 first and Wagner i would really think about it. Would HATE to lose Wagner but man a 1st and a 3rd giving the Hawks two 1st, two 2nd and two 3rd round picks.

If the team needs a MLB sure but you're still going to have to kick in another draft pick.

for a 1st and Wagner for a 1st and 3rd? how will they need to kick in another pick? So Bobby isn't worth what would amount to a middle to late 2nd round pick? If someone told me the best Middle Linebacker in the NFL was not worth a 2nd rounder in value i would laugh at them.

If Frank Clark was worth a 1st, 2nd and swapping of 3rds then Bobby is worth a 2nd!

If they did trade Bobby i would want them to grab Jordyn Brooks From Taxes tech in the 2nd.

Just talking about trading a player like Bobby Wagner makes me sick to my stomach. whats that saying though? Better a year to early than a year to late?

You're asking a team to trade back 9-13 spots back. Wagner who we all love and yes is still playing at a high level will be 30 and still has 41 mil left on the contract. You will not get a 2nd for Wags. At best swap firsts, Wags and a third.

Frank Clark was 25 at the time of his trade and why Seattle was able to pull off that trade.

You have to try and look at it from the view of the other side of the field.

Upon looking at Wagner contract, Seahawks would not be saving any cap space by trading Wagner so never mind.

I don't know if I'd bother considering trading up in the first round unless an elite talent drops and you have an opportunity to select them. You normally pay more in terms of draft capital to trade up than to trade down (hence why the Seahawks have traded down so much).

As much as we need help with pass rushers, IMO Chase Young is the only pass rusher worth trading up for and that would never happen.

The NFL draft might just be my favorite sports related event of the year, but I will say that the Seahawks never do what I expect.

Hypothetical question for you all:

If Jadeveon Clowney commands Khalil Mack money ($23.5m per year, $90m guaranteed), do you give it to him? I'm really conflicted because we desperately need pass rushers, but I don't think Clowney is worth that much. But if we don't extend him, we now need two pass rushers and potentially a DT to replace Jarran Reed if he walks.

If we were not by chance able to keep Clowney and Reed, we would most certainly need to release KJ Wright to free up salary to add to those other positions of need on the DL... Cody will be a very good replacement for KJ, unfortunately our replacements on the DL doesn't go that deep...

I think @blstoker brought up a good point that I didn't consider when it comes to releasing K.J. Wright. If the Seahawks stick with running 3 linebackers on the field most of the time - foolish IMO - they would be reluctant to release him.

Apparently Reed wants a minimum of $10m a year. I personally think he's worth maybe $5m a year, but even then I see him as replaceable as I really believe his double digit sack total was a fluke.

These numbers are purely speculative, but if Reed wants $10m a year and Clowney wants $21m a year, I would rather spend that money on say Chris Jones (PFF projects $18m per year) and Yannick Ngakoue (PFF projects $19.5m per year). Those two would cost a combined $37.5m per year as opposed to the $31m for Clowney and Reed, but I believe those two combined are better and the deficit could be covered by releasing K.J. Wright.

Obviously that'll never happen, but it's always fun playing arm-chair GM where you can pretend everything works out according to plan.

Fortify the lines with both FA $ and early draft picks. I am ok with a 1 year deal on Greg Olson, but I am not up for using any more salary cap dollars on offensive skill position free agents, and I don't want any early picks on any either. Russell Wilson is the weapon. Protect him, and he'll continue to be one of the league's best QBs with Carson, Penny, Lockett, DK, etc. On DL, I think we gotta bring back Clowney as well as get one more pass rusher from free agency. I am not stuck on any particular name, but guys like Quinn or Griffen may be able to help. Reed didn't have the best year, but I would be happy to bring him back. We gotta improve both lines.
