Boo hoo. The Astros got a slap on the wrist for what they did and who they were/are as an organization. I guarantee you they’re celebrating right now. They are the most morally bankrupt organization in all of pro sports. Beating up women is funny to them. Lying and cheating? No problem! Literally nothing is taboo with that group as long as winning is the end result. I guarantee you Jeff Luhnow would endorse murder if it meant another World Series win.

For their widespread cheating and absolutely abhorrent behavior last season following the Taubman scandal, the punishments SHOULD have been:

- Lifetime bans for Luhnow and Hinch
- Fine of $50 Million
- Loss of ALL draft picks and international signings for the next 5 years

If Manfred had any balls at all, he would have gone scorched Earth on that franchise. You think you can get away with blatant cheating to win a World Series and throwing a bunch of female reporters under the bus while mocking domestic violence? Fine. Now you’re a bottom-feeding franchise with zero chance of competing for the next decade. Have fun with that.

1 year suspensions do NOTHING. Hinch and Luhnow can still control things from behind the scenes. How is MLB going to stop them? Are they going to tap Luhnow’s phones and make sure he’s not communicating orders to his interim GM?

Also, now that the other franchises know that you can literally cheat your way to a World Series title with only a 1 year suspension as the worst possible outcome, don’t you think more might be inclined to try it?

The only good punishment to come out of all of this (which isn’t mentioned in the article) is that Brandon Taubman also received a lifetime ban from working in ML baseball (as if any other team would hire him now anyway).

I stated in a previous post that I think its going to get progressively worse, not for each organization's individual action, but each action within MLB as a whole

I think they decided it was a bit early on the scorched earth policy but its coming, the Taubman thing is, to me, a separate issue

But Cora should be more, bc hasn't he been involved in a cheating scandal before?

He was directly involved in the Astros cheating scandal. He was their bench coach in 2017. And then he presided over the Red Sox cheating. Double whammy.

And when I said progressively worse I meant not acts of cheating that were in concurrent seasons, both teams had the same level of precedent set organizationally

So Cora beat his former team in the Astros, in the 2018 ALCS with his own scam when managing the Red Sox. LOL can't make this stuff up.

I'm sure the Yankees will have something to say about this scandal. They lost to the Astros in the ALCS in 2017 and this year.

It really is comical when you look at it that way.

This guy’s dishonesty knows no bounds. Good grief. When the Taubman scandal broke, two anonymous former Astros employees were interviewed and said that they wouldn’t be shocked by anything that ever came out about the Astros because Jeff Luhnow would literally sell his own mother to win a title. They said that winning justified whatever means it took. And then ESPN ran an article, either by Buster Olney or Jeff Passan (would have to go back and look), which stated the exact same thing- that Jeff Luhnow would never apologize for anything because he truly didn’t care what the public thought and that winning was the only thing in the world that mattered.

“I’m not a cheater”... “I didn’t know”... BS to both. You were around that team every single day of the year. There is no way you didn’t know something was going on. That would mean Hinch, Espada, Cora, all of the players, and the “low level employees” doing the filming all would have had to conspire to keep it a secret from him.

Can't add any more to your comments except to say you're absolutely correct.

Yeah I'm not throwing stones until i know other teams don't get reeled in to a scandal

I think this point forward, teams are going to be snitching at any possible transgressions and documenting everything... hopefully nobody is stupid enough to cheat going forward

He pretty much started throwing everyone under the bus. See the true character of an individual in how they react to adversity.

Yes wise move as Rangers have been alluded to. Seems like when Beltran was here there were murmurs

Astros owner states dismissing Hinch and Luhnow gives them a clean slate???

Players get off scott free and who sent emails directing scouts to cheat- nothing. Current bench coach very suspect.

MLB could have done more. Rose bet and lifetime ban but this is worse

Exactly this. MLB has been petty and vindictive toward Pete Rose for years because he bet on baseball and refused to admit to it. Say what you want about that guy, but he played his butt off every time he set foot on the diamond, and you will never convince me he ever did anything to mess with the “integrity” of the game. He broke the rules, and yeah he used inside knowledge to make extra money on the side. So he did deserve some punishment. But he never did anything which altered outcomes of games.

These guys did. What they did was WAY worse.
