The original call was wrong. Possession for like 1/4 of a second and forward progress stopped. Should have never had to go to replay. Refs should have made the right call in the first place
Forward progress stopped could be correct....too bad that's not what they said.

So running with the football is no longer a football move. What a coincidence that all calls went the way of the team who plays in one of the conference where the TV rights holder of the title game holds interest.

LOL, yes, because why would ESPN want the #1 team for viewers this year...Clemson is 12th BTW...in a game they already have the rights too.

I'm sure that makes perfect sense to Bucknuts fans.

Not this one. I don't think there was any conspiracy to get Clemson in there. Just a couple bad calls.

I'd just as soon play second fiddle, as long as I get to be in the band. Enjoy your meaningless exhibition.
and good chance we can get back. Makes it a little easier to take.

Of course it was a catch....Fields threw it right to the defender.
If OSU choked in the game, what did Oregon do when they choked to a lesser team and couldn't even get to the CFP? Double secret super choke?

Juice is the most notorious low-level troll on board outside of that one FSU fan, so it's par for the course. He is the poster child for Florida's jealous rage about Urban leaving them for a better program a decade ago.
When Urban made his mistake of leaving Florida, his admitted regret, Tressel was still wearing his OSU vest and supporting his players to get tats for memorabilia. But dont let facts get in the way... carry on.

Someone's jealous that he's not considered the biggest troll.

Buckeyes had three opps for TD in red zone early in game and had to kick FG's. That is the failure point there IMO. Had a chance to set tone for a W, but choked.

I don't throw out the choke label as liberally as most as it takes away from what the opponent did, but agree OSU needed TDs

ha, fun to see this thread still rolling along

The ironic thing is that any team in any game can play the coulda, shoulda, woulda game. Yeah, Ohio State got bogged down in the red zone and had to take field goals. But really 10 of Ohio State's points resulted from two broken coverages of Clemson letting Dobbins rack off big runs. Clemson also dropped two easy picks within OSU's 20 yard line, one a guaranteed pick 6. Clemson also had a missed field goal and would have stopped another Ohio State drive had Munford not gotten away with holding Xavier Thomas. Flip those 5 plays and we have a 46-10 ball game. That's how football works. It comes down to key plays and the better team capitalizes on more of those plays. Clemson was the better team, and deserved the W.

As far as the actual penalties. Obviously, it was targeting. Even Ohio State fans admit it was a penalty but complain about the rule itself. I think that's fair, but it's not up to the refs to selectively call penalties. They enforce the rules and Ohio State clearly targeted Lawrence. I'm not even going to address the roughing the kicker, because only idiots would say that wasn't a penalty. As far as the incompletion/fumble, I agree that the refs handled it the wrong way. At full speed, everyone agreed that it was an incompletion. It takes 1/4 of a second and there's no football move. The issue was that the refs let the play go on. They knew it was an incompletion, but there was not indisputable video evidence that it was definitely not a fumble. The refs arrived at the right result but did it improperly. That said, the error was harmless, because Ohio State's offense could not sustain any drives after the first quarter. They got one touchdown in the last 3 quarters, that just so happened to come right after this because of the good field position.

Ohio State couldn't make the plays that mattered, and so they were the worse team on that night.

Anyone who thinks Clemson was the better team that night didn't watch the game. Sorry dude, you guys were lucky as holy hell to win that one.
