Does being a blue blood really mean anything?

Tough question! None of them have an awe inspiring HC at the moment that I think can make them an Elite program year in and year out. Kelly has done the most but hit a glass ceiling in 2012 and 2018. I think Mullen @ UF is in that category. Harbaugh and Herman are capable of building Elite programs - if they are given time (like Dabo was at Clemson), and the new FSU coach has potential. Frost too, I suppose. USC, Tennessee and Miami are sinking ships.
Many of those have had pretty damn good records the past few years but are still considered "down" by many. Things have definitely changed.

Someone tell OP Georgia hasn't been a blue blood since Hershel Walker played there.

:dhd:

Georgia has never been a blue blood. Neither has LSU or Clemson for that matter.

If the blue bloods are the royalty of college football, right now Oklahoma is Prince Andrew.

ND was dang good from 1988 til Lou left. Def Blue blood status at the time.

Now since Lou...some real good years under Kelly but not quite blue blood status.

Oh yeah we were definitely one when Lou was there. Under Kelly we've been a top 10/15 program. Certainly not elite, or even the next level after that.

Good is not Great. I don't think Michigan, ND or Florida are "Down", but I don't see any of the 3 winning the CFB Playoff anytime soon with their current HC either. Capable of a Magical year? Sure. ND came close in 2012 and 2018. Hell, even Oklahoma cannot break through the glass ceiling at the moment. That's how hard it is. Being a dominant program like Clemson, Alabama or Ohio State is TOUGH. fyi: I still consider Ohio State to be under the Meyer influence until that falls apart or changes.

Wisconsin is the blueblood of the West Division of the Big Ten. That's all I have.

That's why it is a stupid term, as those are 3 Historically significant programs over time, AND Clemson is currently ELITE, LSU is trying to become ELITE again (like they were for a bit under Saban-Miles), and Georgia is capable of becoming ELITE under Smart. Those 3 programs all are in excellent shape for the foreseeable future under their current HC.

Two top 15 programs beat two top 5 programs. It is almost like Rutgers won.

I agree, which is why I'm not impressed when fans of certain programs throw their blue blood status out there. It means nothing right now or going forward.

The general consensus is these are the only blue blood programs:

Bama
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Michigan
Texas
USC
Notre Dame
Nebraska

Some of the elitists are iffy on Nebraska's inclusion.

Continuing to be on the same page with you: If Iowa State could get a blood transfusion to become ELITE, only Alabama and Ohio State would be the blood type ISU needed from this list. I'd rather get some Orange Blood from Clemson than Blue Blood from OU (Big Xii Titles are not enough), Michigan (Ohio State's bitch), Texas (OU's bitch), USC (even the Song and Dance girls are starting to sag), ND (Got to win when you get there) or Nebraska (anemic)! :D

See this where the masses need to come to an agreement on:

Are we saying there blue bloods cause they have also won Natty's?
And how far back do we consider them still being blue bloods since there last title win was in the 90's?

I liken it to MLB. The Yankees are bluebloods, maybe the Red Sox and Dodgers. And they are still bluebloods even when they don't win the World Series.

The fact that they include Michigan, but not Pitt and Minnesota is laughable to me.

Clemson has 3 National Titles
Clemson has played for 100 years
Clemson has played 47 bowl games
Clemson has 30 consensus all-americans
Clemson has 750 total wins

A historical ( grade A+) program beat a historical (grade A++).

That is madness.

The world is upside down with this monument mismatch of programs.

Or leave the Cornholer's out of it, sure they've had some down times, like Miami, Texas, SC ( yes SC fans you're spiraling out of control)

I guess my list is based off of today, who I see are the true "blue bloods" still standing :

Bama
Clemson
