Good questions - but as was brought up by another, believe this will always be an individual decision.

Most will play, because they won't see the next level and want to shine for their team.

The few NFL prospects will look at their draft stock, and make decisions from there.

Eh... It's a violent sport. If you try to play it "safely," then it becomes an entirely different game. Either take the risks, or miss out on the potential rewards.

Yeah,....and don't sign up fragile QBs.

This guy seems to need to get in a safer line of work.

What was his major? Communications?

Well there you go Boi!

Get you a job talking about college football.

Well, it happens. Those Samoans are strong as hell...maybe stronger than their joints can handle. With those bad ankles, his hip might have been fucky after walking unnaturally from ankle pain.

Hell, I dislocated my shoulder in HS football. Should my mommy have stood out in front of the school and demanded football not be so rough? Fuck no, shit happens. Tua's hip means nothing.
At 50 years old, my shoulder never hurts anymore, but my ankle, wrist, knee and hip are all fucked up from playing tennis. Obviously, tennis needs safety regulation.
Targeting is an issue in tennis that needs to be addressed.

So Tua had a season ending injury (hopefully it will not be a career ending injury). I am not here to argue whether he should or should not have played or who is "at fault" but, to think about the effects of that injury on college football.

First, how badly will it effect bowl season? We have already, in the past few years, seen high profile and draft pick players skip their bowls. Will Tua's injury make more players reconsider playing in a bowl? Will bowls become just glorified scrimmage games between teams playing next year's roster? I fear this will be the case outside the CFP and maybe the New Years Six bowls.

Second. There have been bad injuries in football the last few years but, none as high profile as Tua. Will this cause the NCAA and Athletic Departments further water down the game we love in the name if "safety?"

Anyone have any other ideas on the effects?

sorry, but fuck all players who quit on their team for the bowl, CCGs, playoffs, and even leaving earlier than that now...... midway through their last season.

I'd say the biggest effect is the first CFP without Alabama.

Uh you tried attacking me lol. So I'm still wondering what caused you to lose your shit over an obvious joke? But I think I now realize you're a Tua fan boy and you took the joke the wrong way (because it had nothing to do with Tua but just making fun of the OP)? Maybe Tua will let you sign his cast if you show up at the next Wal-Mart fan boy photo op Bama loves doing.

I don’t blame Saban for the decision, and I don’t blame Tua for wanting to stay in. What I do blame is the system. And what I’m getting at is margin of victory for the playoffs. If they took that element out of the equation this probably wouldn’t have happened.

Feel bad for the young man. I hope he can get an NFL contract and recovers fully.

Personally, I don't give a fuck and don't understand why anyone else would.

The kid breaks easy. So, finish the degree and get a GDed job like the rest of us.
If he comes back the vols face him again. Hope the surgery and rehab goes well and he matriculates.

I don't know based on the quality of most of your posts, I felt it was fair to say it wasn't a joke...therefore making it a source of ridicule....not exactly what I would call triggered. You on the other hand seemed very triggered...perhaps I didn't realize how getting a cat's ass trophy could be viewed as such a catastrophe by the fragile.

Lol again Tua fan boy, you attacked me and stayed on the offensive long after it was carefully explained it was a joke.

Of all the arguments being made, this one is the weakest. This had NOTHING to do with margin of victory.

Saban is the LAST coach to go for “style points”. Look back at the second halves of games under him. I challenge ANYONE on here to find an example of him running up the score. When comfortably ahead in second halves, the offense shuts down. We routinely take a knee inside the opponent’s 5-yard line.

I realize you are not making this about Saban blatantly running up the score, but “style points” is something he abhors. Plenty of other coaches gladly keep scoring, and yes, it does impress voters.

You keep saying that, but your "joke" was barely even tangentially related to Tua...hard for me to get triggered about Tua when your didn't really make a joke about Tua. Keep lashing out if you feel the need. I know how you Ohio State fans get when you are in between your 1 great season a decade...all that pent up rage and anxiety isn't healthy.

You can’t be helped and get out of your own way can you? Lol. The joke was never about Tua yet you lashed out. And here you still are? Let’s help build some context since your slack jaw education has failed you. In the parlance of our times and the pussification of football, I merely said his injury might prompt the powers at be to terminate the sport. Gross hyperbole that you got all butt hurt over because I used Tua.
