We've all seen lists of some of the worst trades ever, like the Expos' trade for Bartolo Colon from the Indians, etc. But what is some of the worst trades over the last 5 years or so? The first one that comes to mind for me is the Pirates trading for Archer. It's still a fairly recent trade, but Glasnow and Meadows look like stars, while Baz is currently a top-100 prospect all while Archer looks nowhere near his old self, which was always a little overrated anyway. What are some other ones?

I also really liked how Cashman traded 4 minor leagues for Aroldis Chapman, then flipped Chapman for Gleyber Torres and others, then resigned Chapman.

Cubs got their long awaited WS win, but Torres is a 22 year old middle infielder knocking on the door of 40 HR.

Yeah, that was smart by the Yanks, but not bad for the Cubs since they did get their World Series title. I guess that was a pretty bad one for the Reds though...

Cashner/Rizzo
Kluber/Westbrook/Ludwick
Chapman/Torres

I'd probably say Kluber of those three. Cards/Padres didn't get much of anything out of Westbrook/Ludwick and Kluber was one of the very best pitchers in the league from 2014-18.

Yeah, I definitely agree that the Kluber one is the worst of those three. Even Cashner was pretty solid for a good 3 or 4 years it seems. Although the Cubs obviously won that deal.

Cashner showed flashes in 2013-14, but he struggled to stay on the mound (26 starts and 175 IP in 2013, only 19 starts in 2014). Even when he pitched well though, he had pretty poor strikeout rates especially for how good his stuff was. low strikeout rates are usually not a good sign for pitchers going forward. But yeah, at least they can say they got some quality innings out of him.

Mets won the Syndergaard/Dickey trade, but it does not look nearly as good as it did a few years ago. It's a shame d'Arnaud couldn't stay healthy. Dickey was a pretty useful pitcher for the Jays (800+ innings in four seasons with a 100 ERA+)

But Dansby and Ender aren’t elite, and Aaron Blair is out of baseball
That's still a hell of a lot better than a starting pitcher that's thrown 183 innings of 68 ERA+ ball over the last four years.

Yamamoto looks pretty good, at least they did get some value

YES! I can't believe that one didn't come to mind for me as a Tigers fan. I loved Dombrowski as a GM but that was the one deal he did when he was there that I immediately didn't like. I didn't expect it to turn out as awful as it did, but I still didn't like it even then.
