I’d reverse that. California outside of LA doesn’t care about college football. LA (well USC because no one cares about UCLA) may not care like other states do but Berkeley has professors wanting to drop sports and Stanford has the best overall athletic department in the country but can’t pay people to sell out an arena or stadium.

Nice try. Why would the USC band perform their GRAND entrance LONG before the game started? California is Soviet Union/China/Venezuela/North Korea when it comes to sports.

While I agree with your assessment of the commiefication of Kalifornia. The USC band does a lot of stupid shit before and after the game. When I lived there, the rugby club I played for worked security for the Coliseum as a fundraiser, so I've seen the band do similar shit inside and outside the stadium before the teams were even on site. Not that USC doesn't have their fair share of fair weather fans...but I've never seen the Coliseum empty like that for even the shittiest team.
