First, many thanks to AWAZ for starting the thread.

Second, FUCK!!!

I can't believe we are here already. What is worse, the answer to some if not several of the Flyers problems is not so much to bank on this years draft to deepen the pool of prospects, but to deal away picks to patch up the NHL line up. Me, I want 1st and 2nd round picks.

Let the wild rumpus commence!!

To me, Holmgren has basically written on the wall that the Flyers will be moving future pieces to improve the current team. Does he believe strongly enough in this group of players to deal away a first round pick that could be Jack Hughes? That’s the question for me.

The top of this draft is really strong I think, from what I’ve read anyway.

This draft looks very strong at the top and does not have the steep drop off that the we have seen where after about the 20th pick there are clear aspects of a players game that need to be addressed almost to a rudimentary level in order for them to even succeed in the AHL.

My hope, and Homer did this to a degree when he took over from Clarke, is that every deal that goes out brings a pick back. If I send you a roster player, a prospect (either in the AHL or still in juniors) and a pick for a roster player, you include a pick back. I give you a 5th or 6th in the package and you give me a 4th back, or a conditional 3rd. That way there are still going to be picks. I would not trade this years 1st unless I was getting legitimate top 6 NHL forward or a legitimate top 4 NHL blueliner, and I would not make the remainder of the package too rich. I know that means no one would make that trade, but 1st round picks are gold, 1st round picks when your team is not doing well is pure gold.

Of course, a consensus Top 10 seems to be forming. :gaah:

I’m leaning Peyton Krebs for the Flyers if he’s still there at 11.

I like Krebs too. Boldy and Krebs probably my top 2, then Caufield, then Kaliyev.

It'll probably change 10 times before the draft, but I want them to swing for the fences on a point producer.

Kinda looking at Caufield or Krebs depending on how the first round breaks down.

Fortunately, Caufield has shot up the rankings making this more of a consensus top 11, maybe even top 12 if you count Broberg. Given that, I expect the Flyers to keep the pick.

Assuming no trade, do the Flyers go with whoever from the general consensus top 11/12 falls to them or do you think they have their eye on someone ranked a bit lower? Krebs likely will be there due to his injury. I can see Podkolzin falling. Caufield has flown up the board but size may still scare off teams a bit. Broberg might be there but I’ve been reading about teams in the 8-10 range being interested.
