No, just saying that Dalton is only 30ish. Give him 7 more years and his stats would be comparable to Bens.

Ben has played around 11 seasons more than Dalton. Take away any 7 years of stats from Big Ben, and don't factor in the 2 Super Bowls, you basically have 2 identical quarterbacks. Now if we are to say, the only criteria for a qb to reach the HOF is winning a Super Bowl or a playoff game, well then I guess your standards would be pretty low. In baseball its like, win 300 games or get 3000 hits, or hit 400 homeruns without taking too much performance enhancing drugs, and your in, regardless of how many playoff games you won or world series games you win. I think a qb should be the same. Maybe 250 Tds, or throw for x amount of yards in your career, and you should start to get some serious consideration.
Another serious consideration is Marvin Lewis. Everyone has said what a terrible coach he was, well look what Dalton has achieved under a bad coach. Had he played for the Steelers or Patriots, just imagine what he would have achieved?
Everyone else.

You were still swinging from his nuts in December.

IF Dalton had played for the Steelers, he would have won more than 2 Super Bowls by now. If Ben had played for the Bengals, he wouldn't have won a playoff game yet either. Dalton has made what would have been bad Bengals' teams good. A lesser qb wouldn't have even made it to the playoffs as Dalton has.
Reflecting back, I think Marvin Lewis might not have been a very good coach? Hindsight is 20/20

This is the most ignorant comment I have ever heard. Only a handful of qbs have made teams with nothing better and Dalton is not one of them. Dalton is exactly what he has shown, a mediocre, never will be in the hall of fame, and will never win a Super Bowl quarterback.

Dalton is not even close to big bens talent level. Ben will be a first ballot hall of famer, Dalton can valet park at canton, that's as close as he is getting. Again, Not even a top 15 qb in this league and you talk about him like he is elite.

Then why do his stats and all-time rankings prove otherwise? Why are qb's behind him in stats in the HOF?

Because the game is more than stats. Especially in this pass happy era. A 3,000 yard season used to be phenomenal for a qb. Now if you aren't throwing around 4200 to 4500 then you are not a good qb. Times change. Eras change. It is easier to be a qb now then some of those guys who are in the hall but have lesser stats. Someone that is not a complete moron would know that. You still willing to put your money where your mouth is and wager that Andy Dalton will never see the Hall of Fame.

Take Barry Sanders for example. In my opinion he and Eric Dickerson are the two greatest running backs to ever play the game, yet Emmitt Smith is the all time rushing leader. Stats can be misleading and when used as the only criteria for greatness, an inaccurate measuring stick.

Emmitt Smith stayed healthy and had more more drive than Sanders. Overshadowed them both in the end, just like Dalton. We'll see.
That's just crazy, ignore the stats and then just put in whoever you feel like deserves in? Everyone would have their own opinions. Can't ignore the stats, and the stats prove that Dalton is on track to join the Hall of fame.

While I know this is a joke thread it got me thinking.

How many current NFL starters have LESS of a chance to make the HoF then Dalton ?

By division

AFC East

Certainly Brady is in. You'd have to rate Allen and Darnolds chances as better given their age . Dalton probably has better odds than Fitz

AFC North

Obviously Ben is in. Mayfield and Jackson would have better odds .

AFC South

Luck, Watson and Mariota would spl gave better odds for sure. Probably even Foles given the age is similar and Foles has a SB

AFC West

Rivers and Mahomes have far better odds. I'd say even Flacco ( Super Bowl ). Torn on Carr. What do you think ???

NFC East

Dak, Wentz, Eli are all clearly better odds. Does Dalton have a better chance than Smith ??

NFC North

Rodgers is in. Trubisky , Stafford and Cousins would imo all be ahead of Dalton too

NFC South

Brees is in. Ryan and Cam are both MVPs with SB appearances . Winston ?? I'd still say he's got a better shot based on age

NFC West

Certainly RW and Goff. Honestly I'd bet on Rosen or Jimmy G over Dalton too

So there's what 3-5 starters in the league who id give the same or worse shot to make it.

Anyone disagree with that ( other than mrschaney )

Dalton isn't playing another 7 years. I doubt the Bengals resign him when his current contract runs out ( after the 2020 season). If the Bengals had a QB to turn to, he'd be gone even sooner.

I will give you Tony Romo as a good example. For several years he was top 5 in the league based on stats. At one time held the highest qbr in the history of the game. Yet he will never see the Hall of Fame either. Because stats isn't the end all be all of football.

Brady, Luck, Watson, Foles, Carr, Flacco, Mahomes, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Mayfield. AFC qbs better.
Wentz, Manning, Ryan, Cam, Brees, Wilson, Goff, Garopalo, Trubisky, Rodgers, Cousins, Stafford. NFC qbs better. That's 22 qbs better than Dalton, and that is only selecting the sure fire better than him. I gave you the benefit of the doubt on a few iffy ones like Jameis, Darnold and such.

Not all those guys are necessarily better. And some have Just been playing a few short years. Some have had a good season or two. Like Trubisky, Garopalo, Wentz, .............a good season or 2. Mahomes has played one good season, could be out of the NFL next year for all we know due to injury. Just because a guy has one good year, they haven't matched Dalton.
And Rome. Should Dalton stay healthy 2 more seasons and put up his average stats, he would surpass Romo in most categories.

Avg stats??? Let me know when Dalton finishes in the top 5 of the entire league in anything other than interceptions.
