None of the contracts for the sports stars are worth it per se but it is the cost of doing business in Today’s sports world. In 1965 Joe Namath signed a 3 year $427,000 rookie contract with the Jets a unheard of number way back then and the most expensive contract in the then NFL-AFL rivalry the contracts been rocketing upward ever since.
Is Demarcus worth it? nowadays seems to be a abstract term with the tickets so high your average fan with a wife 2 kids a mortgage and student loan debt is almost or is priced out of the price of admission to see a game in person.
It’s like a social program from the goverment once the floodgates are open they can’t be closed until they collapse.
And while we kvetch and bitch and debate about it no matter the team or sport We will watch and cheer our team. While supporting them by buying the beer whiskey clothes shoes cars etc and team gear that are advertised through the media which helps pay the skyrocketing salary’s and line the pockets of the owners that bring us our ‘fix’ of our preferred sport of choice. We are all addicts to different degrees when you look at it honestly but few do. Just ask a Browns Fan.

With all that said I can’t wait for the NFL draft and season. I’m an addict by choice and I admit it but I’m not looking for help or recovery just my next NFL Cowboys ‘fix’.

Hi my name is CowboyColors I’m a NFL Junkie.

Miller is the outlier there because his deal is now "old" but halfway between Flowers and the top 2 is about right, no? Remember one of the things about D Law is he plays the run very well also. Some guys will get more sacks, but he is a complete, every down player.

Wow, is Lane Johnson the biggest Asshole in the B+NFL now or what??? He's just as infatuated with the Cowboys as many Eagles Fans seem to be.

Hey, Lawrence's lack of sacks against Johnson doesn't make him a bad player. Lane's just a little salty that these DEs he owns make more than he does. But if he didn't juice so damn much, he might make more.

Fletcher Cox's contract is looking like a bargain now. Just a couple of years ago, people were like, "$100 million contract for Fletcher Cox?" Now he is not even in the top 5.

If he didn't juice so much he probably gives up more sacks.

Well one is a DT & one is a Edge rusher. Two different positions. Different demands on price per position.
But for what it is worth. I would rather have started with a game changing top DT & go find an edge rusher than the other way around. Finding an edge rusher out of college seems easier than an dominating DT.
My philosophy has always been start from the inside out.

I'm kinda with you there @Schmoopy1000 , a guy like Cox or Donald is extremely rare and if you find one like that, I think you have to do what it takes to keep them. They make all the guys on the edge look even better. It also seems that colleges are grooming a lot of edge rushers these days because that is the hot position coming into the league. It has really become everything for teams after a franchise QB. The game has become about getting to the QB quickly and getting him off his spot because with offenses these days, a QB with time will tear the defense apart.
As for Dlaw, he is one of those guys that truly disrupts everything the offense does and as was noted, he is really good in the run game too. Not just a one trick pony. I don't see this as a terrible signing for the 'Boys. It's something they needed to do and this is about market value for a guy of his caliber, imo. Now he just has to live up to it. If he continues improving and doing what he does, most fans will see this as a smart move, imo.
