Osborne said that in Madison, he was riding in a golf cart with three Nebraska fans who were older than 90 years old when they were heckled by Wisconsin students. He said it's up to Nebraska fans to set a higher standard.

"I think usually schools with good tradition who have won a lot are fairly tolerant," Osborne said. "Those who have won lately haven't handled it well. There is no correlation between treating opponents badly and winning. We certainly hope people are treated well."

Ohhhhhh SNAP Wisconsin, T.O. just served you.

They heckled T.O. They gonna die.

Congrats to Tom Osborne on "serving" our fan base. This will surely sour my memory of our 48-17 win. Seriously, I couldn't care less. Our fans are classy, but if your only consolation after a beatdown is that you guys have nicer fans, I don't want to be the person to interfere with your healing. Carry on.

I am sure Dr. Tom handled it just fine Brasky... and Wisconsin will learn how to handle success the more they have it... If Alverez was with Dr. Tom on the cart...I would bet he heard some of this... so let Barry deal with his own house.

No worries... from what I have heard... they were not near as bad as some of those places we have played and had beer thrown on fans/players or spit or balloons full of piss... and such...

Just saying...

Everyone must've quickly forgotten my post. Wisconsin's football program as a whole is utter shit when compared to at least 25+ other football programs. What makes you think they're accustomed to winning?

Really smart??? Your fans are classy???? You yourself admitted that they chant "fuck you" and asshole or something along those lines between sections. That, in no way can be considered classy

It's a jestful chant between two student sections. I actually agree that it is not very classy, and many of our fans have tried to replace it with "Great Taste, Less Filling." Unfortunately, freshmen want to chant ESFU as a sort of rite of passage. I don't think that defines our fan base on the whole. We cheer when players get up from injury, show respect for past legends, and interact positively with our team and with one another. I also assure you if any opposing fans need help (finding a place to eat, shops, getting directions to tailgates, whatever), we'll help you out. A couple of jestful cheers doesn't undo respectful actions.

Like the reports I heard of whiskey fans giving bad directions to husker fans???

Since you are accusing our students of being assholes, this statement is ludicrous. I'm probably about the age of average Wisconsin students (born in early 1991). I have a pretty solid memory, but the first game I can specifically remember watching is Jake Plummer v. OSU in the 1997 Rose Bowl. If we assume that Wisconsin students can remember back to the 1996 season, I doubt you'll find fifteen better programs. In that time, we are 140-57 with 3 Rose Bowl appearances. Heck, in a few years, incoming students will never remember a time when Nebraska was a better program than Wisconsin.

Paraphrasing from the radio, Tom mentioned how great Madison was, including fans, then singled out Wisconsin student section specifically (they weren't very nice). Then Tom made a point to say he hoped Nebraska fans would treat any future visitors with respect regardless. No matter what happens when Nebraska visits their stadiums.

The history of winning reference was funny. I don't really see the correlation. A small Osborne jab methinks. All in fun. After all, does Virginia Tech have that long a history of winning? My bro and mom went and they say those people were the very, very best. A+ for Hokies.

If you want to use that logic Nebraska is 194-61 since the 1991 season. With 3 national championships and (I believe) 5 national championship apperances.

I will say.. I was impressed with the Ohio State fans when they visited us last week... Very respectful even when they were up 21 on us... reminded me a lot of our own fan base!

Shit, I could make a case for Iowa>Wisconsin

You wanna know something funny? Notre Dame has gone to more BCS bowl games than Wisconsin and I bet you would find them rather irrelevant.

I'm pretty certain we've both gone to three BCS Bowls, and unlike them, we've won two (and were competitive in the third). I'll give you everyone on that list besides Penn State, and i'll even add on Oregon and Nebraska. You'd be hard pressed to make a case for Iowa if we're going from 1996 on. That makes us the 17th best program, which is nothing to laugh at, especially because we appear to be on the upswing.
