I don’t read either. I tried to get into Marvel back in the early ‘90s, but it just didn’t take. I am interested in the storylines, however, so I am somewhat familiar with major arcs. At least to a passing level.

This storyline has been used in a few cartoons, “Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes”, for one.

Haven't heard of that one either lol. When the Avengers things was forming and being first talked about, I had to look up who was in the Avengers so I knew what movies to look out for lol.

Most of my marvel information came from 90's spiderman and x-men cartoons.

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was really good. I recommend it. I think it is on the streaming services...

One of my Facebook friends hated it, apparently.

Though, I think he would fit in great with most of the PF.

I liked it. I don't think its a top 5 MCU movie but its one of the best origin stories. Larson's performance was a bit uneven but stronger towards the end so maybe that was by design.

I think the comedic elements hit. Mendelson was great. One of the weaknesses of the series is when they take great actors cast as villians, hide them behind a bunch of makeup/CGI and have them do villainy things. Seeing how they used him (and Pace for that matter) after Brolin killed it in Infinity War makes me think this will be the norm going forward.

I found the ending anticlimactic. She is going to play a large role in Endgame though, so it was important that the movie defined just how much of a badass she is. I'm a little concerned she will get the Vision treatment in Endgame because she should be able to just smoke Thanos.

Ill probably catch it again in the theater.

It was decent. Its in the back half of MCU movies but not near the bottom.

Here is what separates it from the good movies. There is a scene in Guardians 2
where it flashes back and shows Yondu being Peter's Dad slowly progressing as they each get older. It works. You feel that connection between two characters that they've developed in two movies. Captain Marvel has a scene where Carol gets knocked down over and over again and then she gets back up over and over again. Its a full-stop nike commercial stuck in one of the most important scenes. No character development for that payoff. Just...I'm human and being human means I get up when I get knocked down. Its unearned and groan worthy.

The movie is just really on the nose and hides the titular character. She is a weapon. At least they got that right. She is about as developed as Cloud from FF7, though.

The movie also greatly benefits from following the entire Marvel soap opera. There was a couple next to me that did not have any of the correct info on the timeline and I dont think they enjoyed the movie as much as the rest of us.

I dont get the outrage. This is what Captain Marvel is. Nick Fury is that character that is changed to a black guy (and Samuel L is 10/10 in this movie) but thats been the norm for a long time and no one seemed to care. This isnt a Last Jedi scenario where older timelines are crushed. Its just a movie with a female Superman and no male Lois Lane.

Its funny. It has action. Its good enough

B-

Side note.....Captain Marvel never ages?

I think people wildly overestimate how much power internet bubbles actually have on the global audience.

Just got back from viewing it.

Wasn't too bad. Soundtrack was cool. Can't wait to see her go up against thanos.

End credit scene 1
ties into endgame, I thought she was gonna punch blackwidow lol
end credit scene 2
is gag real, didnt think it was worth staying for.

Actually end credit scene #2 reveals a major plot point even if it was just a gag

When we see the cat throwing up the Tesseract on Fury’s desk that answers the question of how he came into possession of it all the way at the end credit scene for Thor 1 when we see him give it to Stellan Skarsgard’s character.

We always saw Fury giveaway the Tesseract but no movie up until now has explained how he ended up with it.

I made my post immediately after viewing it for the first time... as it has settled and I have digested it a bit my opinion has changed slightly.

Previously, I gave Captain Marvel 7/10... now I give it a 5/10. Too much stuff didn't add up and it appears that it was most likely due to writing and that is a big part to me.

I agree with the B/B+ rating.

Nice movie. Not thrilling, but nice.

Seemed like an origin story with the main intent of the movie to quickly move Captain Marvel into the Endgame 2 storyline. Seemed a bit forced at times, but they had to have planned it this way. Middle of the pack for me.

Heard it was pretty 'meh'. Naturally critics will applaud it because some clam is the feature.

Okay @ill - you wanna provide some actual commentary instead of a bullshit rating on a post that was pretty open ended? What did you think of it? All the critics are giving it amazing reviews yet it's scoring pretty 'meh' with the audience and everyone I've talked to has said it wasn't that great.

So tell me... put your 'bullshit' rating where your mouth is.

well, if you really want to catch up, you need to start from the first Avengers movie from 1998.

I'll just keep catching ones that pop up on Netflix.

And I'll probably keep seeing trailer scenes that make sense because I've already seen why in other movies.

Cinemascore is A. It has a low score both on IMDB and RT's audience score, but a lot of that comes from troll negative ratings.

It's seems to be well on its way into becoming a billion dollar movie despite the hatred. Marvel is just an amazing brand, and IMO Endgame 2 has a good chance at surpassing Avatar, if they can make a billion dollars out of a subpar (for them) movie with an unknown character.
