Looks like Aaron Curry super athletic, no technique and a shitty tackler

Looks like a puffed up version of a LB we currently have on our roster that does exactly what you pointed out above (minus the Aaron Curry name).

The other option is to sign CJ Mosely in FA. If that happens then we would not be drafting a LB with the first pick.

Still drafting White would allow us to rush 5 guys on every play. White and Davis could cover the half the entire field each.

My best comment(s) regarding White is that he has ample speed to go sideline to sideline and his ability to blitz. It's impossible to know if he can ever execute proper tackling skills or if he ever gets rid of the detriment that Davis has in not developing better diagnose/instincts skillset. Developing better technique comes along with varying timeframe depending on the individual player.

Jarrad Davis is two years in now and still has yet to progress to a level where you could say he's getting better with his technique.

I'm not against White but digging further into 5 games (bamax2, Georgia, aTm, auburn), you can clearly see Davis v2.0.

It's White's athleticism that WOWS the media hype train and it's not just the local Detroit outlets either.

Who and what to watch at the 2019 NFL Combine: Tight End

Isaac Nauta, Georgia
Suggested by: Matt Urben, Scott Warheit, Max Gerber and Zack Moran

Another four writer suggestion from the Lions Wire team, Nauta is the most likely of the tight ends group to see his stock rise after the Combine. Nauta is yet another balanced tight end who can block inline as well as be a mismatch in the seam. With a lot of mouths to feed at Georgia, he made the most of his opportunities, impressively catching 86-percent of passes thrown his way with only a 3.2-percent drop rate.

Nauta is my underdog 3rd day selection right along with his teammate RB Elijah Holyfield.

Once BQ trades down a few times in the 1st round (and gains 2-3 extra 2nd day picks) because the top 3 Blue-Chip players are gone the above tandem might come into play.

But I want a CB, Edge, S, RG, before a TE/RB are selected.

Any so-called coverage LB in this years draft is merely hoping they can develop and the risk/reward/value isn't there in the first round or even the 2nd day either. imo.

There is nothing spectacular about Nauta but he can pluck the ball away from his body and has solid hands. He does not possess a 2nd gear but can gain yardage in chunks as he's a long strider. He has little to marginal fluidity or agility in his lower half but it's not a great detriment to him. He's decent as an in-line blocker for pass-pro but will need further development. His run blocking is further along at this point. He has a good skillset at the top of stem/break but will have to become more nuanced to selling his routes.

what was your quote to me again. "Speed isn't everything", just look at Phillip Dorsett.

Don't come back to me with but D.K. Metcalf isn't a tiny little dude.

Besides, Metcalf is going to be the bait on the line to get the Browns to trade up from their #17 and their 2019 2nd round pick and their 2020 4th round pick. The browns will want to beat out the Bills for Metcalf. Book it.

I did say that yes. But Philip Dorsett and John Ross are a dime a dozen speedsters that go into the draft every year. There is always 1 or 2 WR's that usually run under 4.4 or right at 4.4. But very rarely are they 6'4 and 230lbs. It would be foolish to pass on a CJ/Julio Jones type cause one of those guys only come out every 7-10 years.

Speaking of the Browns. They traded down instead of taking Julio and ended up with Phil Taylor and Brandon Weeden. Pretty much explains my case for me.

If we sign Mosely than fuck White. CJ Mosely is awesome. It would be best pass rusher or CB at that point. Unless Metcalf runs under 4.4.

That organization was an absolute shit show. They weren't one very good WR prospect away from contending so getting a load of extra picks was deemed the better move even though it never panned out.

The Lions are a much less talented team right now than the Browns. imo.

You can't know what the outcome of White's development will be by teaming him up with Davis. It could possibly benefit Davis to progress quicker and become a better player but I'm not counting on that happening.

GM's, HC's and position coaches almost always believe they can get the most out of a player with the expert coaching.

Unless you are the Lions and draft Van Noy. Only later to tell him that you don't know what to do with him lol

That is why it is always better to take a blue chipper, elite freak. Trading down 10 or so spots, just to pick up an extra pick in the 40-50 range (which is an absolute dart throw anyways!) is usually a bad idea. That is if the team moving down is passing up an elite prospect.

If BQ drafts D.K. Metcalf then Marvin is put on the auction block for late 2nd day or more than likely early 3rd day even with the nearly 5.4M dead cap. There won't be any MJ or KG can man the slot scenario. D.K. would be considered the future at X WR.

If he were to draft a receiver in the 1st Nkeal Harry is the guy Metcalf is way to risky. Would love Hakeem Butler in the 2nd great hands and unbelievable jump ball skills.

Draft them or sign them? How the Lions will address running back

Draft prospects
Elijah Holyfield played behind Sony Michel and Nick Chubb majority of his collegiate career at Georgia. Holyfield broke out by running for 1,018 yards and scoring seven touchdowns in his only starting season. He offers a great balance of power and size along with wonderful vision between the tackles. Even though he didn’t catch the ball often, he excelled in pass protection. Currently, he has a third-round projection, making him in play if the Lions decide to provide depth on Day 2.

Draft them or sign them? How the Lions will address running back

Devine Ozigbo (Nebraska) caught the eye of Lions Wire’s own Jeff Risdon, who recently profiled him as a prospect of the day with 1,082 rushing yards, 203 receiving yards, with 12 touchdowns. Ozigbo runs with a north-south style showing patience for yards to open up and maximizes every yard that is presented to him. He is somewhat of a one-year wonder, never hitting more than 500 yards before last season. Risdon goes on to say “As a middle-round prospect (4th-6th), Ozigbo presents a viable replacement for LeGarrette Blount as a power back complement to Kerryon Johnson. He’s a little niftier and has better vision and pass protection skills than Zach Zenner.”
