A 9-game conference schedule doesn't help your SOS when you are in a league like the Pussy-12 (or the ACC, for that matter).

What about a league like the SEC?

Are you really trying to argue skipping out one of your G5’s to play another conference mate from the “mighty SEC” wouldn’t increase your SOS?

UNC @ Wake is not an ACC game this year. They wanted to play more often than they had been and signed the game.
If only SEC teams could do such a thing

Baylor?

You telling me a school can recover faster from basically advertising r*pe as a recruiting tool than from putting a kid in a tool shed?

Cool

SEC got that tough IC schedule though. Picture yourself in the West. You got Bama, LSU, A&M, Auburn plus a handful of good East teams to deal with even though you have eight conference games and may only play four total on the road. You saw how they recruited again with 5 teams in the top 10. That’s some tough ass sledding. They really don’t have anything to apologize for.

That's really not a new thing. Back in the days before 12-game schedules became the norm, Alabama had scheduled 8 conference games while most of the rest of the league was still playing seven. As a result, Bama's game vs Ole Miss that year was played as a non-conference game. That was back in the Bear Bryant days.

Well that's a novel idea. Sounds like something other schools might do instead of going 8-10 years before rolling around to play some of their own conference opponents!

i'd be down for replacing games against Notre Dame (or any other decent OOC opponent) with games against UNC, tbh

was the oldest football series in the state by date + # of games played until the ACC decided to put them in two different divisions

i wish Duke and NCSU would schedule OOC games against each other

yep and just two more games isn't enough

ACC just needs to restructure their divisions the next time they get a chance

Lot of faith in #3 and #5 replacing starting QB's that basically was the main factor in their teams success!

I'm surprised to see the Canes at #22. I figured they would not be ranked.

The problem is there's no way to restructure the divisions to accomplish that and have any hope of overall parity in strength.A division with the four NC teams in it is going to be even weaker than the Coastal is now.

The biggest problem I have with the divisions is the fact that Atlantic Division teams get stuck having to make annual trips to the recruiting deadlands that are the northeast while the Coastal gets annual exposure in Virginia. If we are going to have a true zipper alignment then they have to move either VT or UVA to the Atlantic and either BC or Syracuse to the Coastal.

not if you stick those NC teams with Clemson + FSU

it isn't like anyone in the Coastal is going to be able to beat Clemson and FSU (once they get the ship righted) on a consistent basis
