9 game conference schedule. Again take a look at the ACC and SEC before making this assumption. And yes after this season Washington has Michigan in a home & home and after that they have Ohio St. for home & home series.

I get that, but to be fair it's not like you're facing powerhouses in conference right now. I'll agree the ACC is pussy though. Clemson is the only respectable program at the moment.

I know we’ve been a top 4 team with no defense the last two years and we still have tons of talent and Lincoln Riley but until the new defensive regime shows legitimate improvement I have a hard time putting them in the top 5.

They have to get the situation with Swann figured out, too. Until that's handled I don't think Helton is going anywhere. I never really understood his promotion and subsequent contract anyhow, he wasn't even a very good coordinator and they're frickin USC.

It was drama free, alright, because nobody else even had them on their radar to even add as an OC, let alone HC. Dude's been in over his head completely outside of Sam Darnold basically holding the team up by himself.

True, even in a down PAC they haven’t dominated. I’m wondering why swan brought him back to be a lame duck?

I think 3-5 are pretty interchangeable with OSU, UGA, and Oklahoma. All 3 have major personnel losses to deal with, but all 3 are loaded with talent.

70% new coaching staff, new QB who is new to the program (probably, assuming Fields wins the job), 3 new OL, new defense (not that it could be much worse) . . .

Way too much uncertainty for them to be that high. JHMO.

So they might be ranked, not because they are actually good but because their record will deceive dumb east coast pollsters who don’t stay up until 3am to watch games.

I could be wrong but I doubt many pollsters rank teams high in the preseason because they have an easy schedule.

We signed 33 players and 9 of 'em are 3*s. You suckers better look out. We're movin' on up ala George Jefferson.

Talking quality, not quantity. Having the FCS team on the schedule is a bad look when your other two games are already garbage. No offense to Washington, you guys normally have at least one solid OOC opponent, and I'm a big fan of you guys putting michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State on the schedule coming up in the 2020's.

Took a while to get past Sark and Woodward who both kind of screwed the long term OOC slates. Hell, Auburn last year was a more or less last minute kind of deal or it would have ended up being like 5 years without a real decent OOC game. They are turning it around and thank goodness, but it's just so nuts it takes so many years to get out of these holes with most high level schools not scheduling anything less than 6-7 years out at the earliest.

But yes, UW is getting the nod on this list because of schedule more than anything. Not just the OOC, but the conf slate isn't bad either. Road conf games are stanford, zona, buffs, and beavers.

Too many questions left to be answered though. Hell, they have no clue who's going to be taking the snaps yet. I'll guess preseason rankings will have them anywhere from 10 to 20 with all of the uncertainty.

I'd love to boat-gate there and also at a Tennessee game. I love boats, love CFB and love tailgating, it would be a blast to combine all 3 of them.
