I believe I read, philly gets the comp pick for Tate. are you sure we send a pick back? I didn’t see that

that's what I read on pro football talk when the deal was originally made.

The deal was that if Tate doesn't re-sign with Philly then Detroit gives Philly Detroit's 4th round pick in 2020.

Oliver is a damn good prospect in his own right. Describing Oliver as a weak Geno Atkins seems a little bit short imo. I view him similar to Geno and probably more in line with a quicker, slightly more twitchy, slightly more explosive Grady Jarrett but NOT having the strength of Jarrett just yet. Oliver's body type is probably more in line with Pitt's Javon Hargrave minus 25 lbs.

I dont think weak Atkins is a comp that says he wont be awesome. That would still make him a top 5 interior pass rusher in the NFL. Jarrett and Atkins both entered the league much stronger than Oliver, and both had room to add more strength as well.

Oliver will probably be the most athletic of the 3, but I think his ability to add strength is limited. Quite a few scouts have said that 290 is probably the high end for him on playing weight

This right here is on Point.

There's rumors that Oliver's true playing weight was no more than 272 and that when he got to 280 he lost that burst.
That's scary if it were true. rumors float all the time. This kid has nowhere near the playing strength of Bama's Quinnen Williams or even Bama's other DT Isaiah Buggs who I like a lot and should fit in fine as a decent 3-tech. Buggs is not a NG/NT for the NFL. He has short arms and wingspan so he should drop to latter 3rd round comp picks at earliest draft slot if not 4th round or later.

I doubt if he can get to 290 lbs and still be what he was in college CFB with that explosive burst.

White is so much more skilled at coverage than J. Davis was in CFB. However, when you compare the two of them in their college play and missed tackles, I bet those two are damn close. White misses a lot of tackles but he has better recognition is coverage. White is Roquan Smith good in coverage but he's better than Rueben Foster or Jarrad Davis was in college, imo.

If you draft White, you make him WILL LB day 1.

He is fast enough to play anywhere and blitzes better then anyone I have seen in a while. I think his talents would be wasted out in coverage though.

@Old Lion a 2019 FA thread would be good ?

My first thoughts on FA would be to sign Pit TE Jesse James but nothing drastically more than what his teammate Vance McDonald is receiving currently. right about 5-6M avg per year and still draft a TE.

My other want is Washington DE/OLB Preston Smith. I wanted him coming out of Miss State back in 2015. he might be somewhat costly but I like him more than Trey Flowers. If you could get Smith for around 11-12M per year MAX I'd be happy.

I'll respectfully disagree with you on this. Keep in mind when Levy was still healthy in 2014 and 2015, Teryl Austin used Levy on blitzes quite often. I see that type of LB in White.

as a LB yes. Whether that's MLB, SAM, Will or part-time rush LB then yes. Outside of that I'm not so sure he could win on speed alone versus O-Lineman with strength as a speed to power type blitz player.

LOL at Jon Gruden has his whipping boy, old pal, Mike Mayock hired as his GM.

and to think many here on this board wanted that P.O.S. Gruden as a HC.

Gruden has single handedly ruined the Oakland Raiders for the next 5+ years.

I think the 3-4 and Nickel defenses would be optimal. Davis and he could each cover half the field.

Raiders are the first to try. Let's use TV commentators to run a franchise. Should be entertaining to say the least. Mayock is generally spot on (compared to Kiper and them). But I clearly remember before the 09' draft saying that he would take Sanchez the butt fumbler over Stafford. So he definitely isn't perfect.

Not really any different from any other former player GMs Ozzie, Elway, Lynch, or Millen etc. Except Mayock has tons of experience analyzing/scouting players and is generally one of the most accurate.

I have the utmost respect for Mike Mayock regarding his ability to scout, decipher game film and then make his personal analysis.

He's easily one of my top 3 coming from the media outlets/sources.

You missed my sarcasm in the first two words in the first sentence.

Gruden hires.

and Gruden is running that show entirely from coaches to all player personnel.

Mayock's input on player analysis is tantamount to any success Gruden may have in the future but Gruden will make ALL FINAL Decisions, imo.

If the 3 teams that have 4 wins actually win this week we would have 2nd pick. Any of them win and we move up 1 spot for each.

I am getting Greedy for an early draft pick.

Who do you want at spots 2 through 5?
Trade it for Antonio Brown.
