Pats of Glory made me think of Kirk Douglas and some of my favorite films of his.

I even went to list to see that I may have easily not seen some of his best films and performances but here's my list.

1. Spartacus.

Kirk Douglas was very solid as Spartacus but it was a great film for the supporting cast

Pats of Glory made me think of Kirk Douglas and some of my favorite films of his.

Time limit while at work screwed me up

I even went to a list to see that I may have easily not seen some of his best films and performances but here's my list.

1. Spartacus.

Kirk Douglas was very solid as Spartacus with some great scenes in the gladiator school and match but it was a favorite film for the supporting cast.

The Romans were great specifically Peter Ustinov, Lawrence Oliver and Charles Laughton

A great cast at the school too. Woody Strobe, the Head Gladiator and all the others

2. Paths of Glory

Again Douglass gives a solid performance but Kubrick made that film great

3. The Vikings.

Many may not have seen this but it's a really good film about the Viking invasions. Filmed when they could use an actual real Castle in the film with a real attempt to be "factual" about Norse folklore and myths.

Douglas does well as the prototypical Viking with a scarred face and eye. Ernest Borgnine as Ragnar was great. Tony Curtis were decent and Janet Leigh was hot in a 50's kind of way.

4. Gunfight at the OK Corral.

Supporting role as Doc Holiday although Val Kimer was easily the best. Good solid cowboy film

5. 7 Days in May.

Good solid political thriller

I have seen Champion, Lonely are the Brave and Ace in the hole but don't remember much of them

An actor I am not a huge fan of, but he has a few good performances/movies...

Jim Carrey

Me, Myself and Irene
Truman Show
Kickass 2 (I know he went all crying liberal after filming it, but he did a very good job in it)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

The rest is pretty much dumb shit.

Now my favorite actor...

Tom Hanks

Castaway
Saving Private Ryan
Forrest Gump
Toy Story (combine all of them)

He has been basically good/great in everything he has done. But these, for me, are at the top of his list.

I don't really have an actor where I see his name on the marquee and think to myself "I gotta see that!". There are a few writers/producers/directors that have had that effect though:
  • Mel Brooks
  • Trey Parker
  • Quentin Tarantino

I liked him as the Riddler. Also liked him as Andy Kaufman.

Tough to go through all of his roles, but Catch Me if You Can was good.

I would add Kevin Smith to that list.

His best role, in my humble opinion, was Lloyd Christmas.
This is why I shouldn't say these things off the top of my head. Makes me feel incredibly stupid when I forget things like this.
