I expect 12-6 in league play and a top 3 overall finish.Good to start 2-0 in B1G play.
Hopefully we can run through Bucknell/Youngstown State/High Point. Beat UCLA in a few weeks and roll into the home game against Sparty on 1/5 12-1

They need the right coach. Eric Musselman at Nevada or Nte Oates at Buffalo will be on someones radar at the major conference level.everyone says this and they're probably right
but it's about time they start proving they can do it in the 21st century.

True, Groce was a bad hire and it look like Underwood will be. Steve Alford might leave UCLA or maybe Thad Matta will want to get back into coaching. I do not think Illinois will spend the big bucks on an elite coach like Jay Wright or Mark Few. They would have too for those type of coaches to leave.Underwood's resume was just fine when he was hired at Illinois
Groce was also an up and coming coach, but I wasn't as sold on his resume as most were

Yeah they haven't been relevant since Self was there and he left in 2003. I realize they made the title game in 05, but that was with Self's guys. You saw how Weber was, once those guys left. It went downhill quickly. I don't think it's a coincidence the best stretch they had was with Kruger and Self(then Self's guys with Weber) in the last 20 years. Both HOF level coaches. They've simply missed out on too many in state players. Just look within the last couple recruiting cycles. Zach Norvell(Gonzaga), Charlie Moore(KU), Jalen Brunson, Charles Mathews(UM), Glynn Watson(Nebraska). Even some more under the radar guys out of high school like Josh Cunningham, Vic Law and Ethan Happ. For a school that has had the history they do, they should do better with in state talent.
there has to be something more to the story. Weber is notoriously known for being a lazy recruiter. but Groce and Underwood? something isn't adding up
tbh, i have the impression that the Chicago AAU scene is somehow even more dramatic than the average AAU circle. Ayo is a great player, but his handlers completely re-shaped Illinois' class that year and in a very bad way. They told Underwood who Ayo would play with and who he wouldn't play with. Hint: a player that they said he wouldn't play with was a consensus top 100 player that ended up @ Iowa State
(note: i don't think Ayo, personally, had an issue with anyone else. I think it was his handlers who had the issue.)
Shit they haven't lost with them on so I hope we wear them every gameIowa should quickly do something about the shitties uniforms in the country.
Really wish teams would stop making it a thing to put the schools team name where the last name of the player should be

Did Davison just punch that dude in the nuts?
