I'm beating a dead horse and probably have an identical post to what follows, but I have to say it... I know a few years back we were frustrated by the lack of recruiting success on the interior. With the way the Huskies run their defense (primarily a 2-4-5) the talent in the interior means a lot.

Really excited for this group of guys coming in at DT.

2018:
- Tuli Letuligasenoa (#105 overall, #8 DT)
- Sam Taimani (#208 overall, #7 OG)

2019:
- Faatui Tuitelete (#42 overall, #4 DT)
- Jacob Baandes (#81 overall, #8 DT)
- Sama Paama (#428 overall, #29 DT)

I'd be surprised if many other programs have recruited as well as we have with the defensive interior.

Ducks, as usual, blew their wad early with their "spray and pray" aka 500 + offers a season and "Commit now, but you can still take as many other visits as you want" technique.
This always leads to some late bails in Dec and Jan. It's why they're always having to plug holes all over the roster with grad transfers.

Actually you bring up a fantastic topic :

This past year I've learned a whole new defense ( kinda what the Dawgs run) and let's just say I'm old and believe in the 4-3 and 4-4 looks, but with offenses going more and more to the pistol and this spread crap it really pays off to have that OLB/DB playing on the edges and leaving only three on the line and get nose that has size, speed, and hands that can fight off the hands of center and guards it pays off big time....

Up to 16th in class ranking with 20 total commits. Ducks down out of the top 10 now at 13 with 24 total commits.

Damn shame. I guess that Nike money isn't bringing the recruits they hoped.

Right now it seems that the most successful college defenses are built around a 2-4-5 base set due to the fact college teams throw the ball so much, and frequently run the ball out of shotgun even when they do run it.

In an article on Patrick Mahomes I read that college offenses run plays out of the shotgun 86% of the time. That's crazy.

In this type of defensive scheme, the play of the two interior defensive linemen is huge because those two are responsible to eat up 3 guys in the middle so that the linebackers can make plays. Also when you have 4 linebackers on the field, it makes it a bit easier to disguise where pressure will be coming.

Gonna be awhile, but still. Appears another Huard will be playing for the Dawgs in a few years as he's 2021 class....and already rated the best pro-style QB in the country for his class year. WOOF!!!

Tuitele has been named the Hawaii football player of the year.
Check out what he was wearing on the local news with the award.
Beautiful!!!

Wow. Think he wants to be Husky....

It's not unexpected that he committed to UW, but I have to say it's awesome he signed early and wants to help recruit.

The 2020 and 2021 high school prospects are probably two of the best classes in Washington state history and it'll be critical to recruit well in-state when we're going to have really strong competition from some really good programs.

Since I'm bored and anxiously waiting for the Apple Cup to start, here are some of the in-state guys who will be in those classes:

2020:
- Sav'ell Smalls, OLB. #3 overall, #1 OLB.
- Gee Scott Jr, WR. #67 overall, #12 WR.
- Geirean Hatchett, OG. #181 overall, #5 OG.
- D.J. Rogers, TE. #203 overall, #4 TE.
- Ayden Hector, CB. #304 overall, #22 CB.
- Sam Adams II, HB. #341 overall, #28 RB.

2021:
- J.T. Tuimoloau, DT. #1 overall, #1 DT.
- Emeka Egbuka, ATH. #38 overall, #2 ATH.
- Julien Simon, ATH. #45 overall, #4 ATH.
- Will Latu, S. #46 overall, #3 S.

Keep in mind that 2021 list is still quite incomplete since it is still quite far in advance. Huskies have an amazing opportunity to bring in the talent that wins national championships with these in-state classes.

The Sam Huard signing is huge and helps solidify the QB position at UW for years to come.

We currently have Jacob Eason (#5 OVR, #2 POS), Jacob Sirmon (#94 OVR, #6 POS), Colson Yankoff (#91 OVR, #6 POS) on campus.

Dylan Morris (#151 OVR, #6 POS) coming in the 2019 class.

Then Sam Huard (#12 OVR, #1 POS) in 2021.

Coaching staff has done an excellent job recruiting the most important position on the field.

Stephon Wright, Cathedral, Strong-Side Defensive End

He had a recent visit up to UW and was supposed to commit on Wednesday but delayed his commitment after the visit to UW. Most seem to think that he's going to sign with ASU, but the delay of his commitment date means the Huskies really gave him something to think about.

Wow. Think he wants to be Husky....

Couldn’t see him not going to UW. I’m sure Damon isn’t a dick and would support whatever he decides. But come on...
