Beltre wasn't too far from 500 HRs, but it probably would have been two seasons for him to get there even if he didn't regress too badly.
I kind of wrote him off after the Seattle debacle, but he had plenty of life left in him after all. He never came close to that last golden year in LA again...

Well going cold turkey from steroids usually makes you suck for a few years.

Hopefully people don't stop rubbing his head.
I hope somebody rubs his head during the induction ceremony. That would be a crack up. In seriousness though, definitely going to Cooperstown. One of the best ever at the position for sure from both sides of the ball.

I'm sure if he hit like he did the last decade in Seattle rather than Texas, you'd be singing a different tune...

He's an all time great.

A complete ball player. I'm bummed he's calling it a career tbh.

A player I've always liked. All the best to him in retirement. He's a Hall of Famer IMO.

Cause it's not like he had a 48 homer season before he went to Seattle.....

So he was on steroids, then got off steroids when he went to Seattle, then got back on steroids the minute he left Seattle....sounds logical

I really don't understand the hate he gets for the Seattle years. First year after the big signing was disappointing. Not really a surprise after what he did on the Dodgers. 2009, yeah, big drop but also missed a lot of games and likely played hurt when he did play. The 3 years before that his numbers were close to his career avg. Granted, his OPS, slg% a fair bit lower. But, in fairness, a crappy RH hitters park and a shitty team around him. He also had 2 GG in his 5 years there but Mariner fans just expected him to be the second coming of Griffey, I suppose.

He was still a damn good player in Seattle. I'll take a 101 OPS+ from a 3rd baseman when he's one of the best defensive players in baseball.

Even someone who believes Beltre is over-rated(like me) thinks he is a clear first ballot HOFer...
